It may not be true, but it seems that Mothers is fairly low on the detailing food chain. With the release of new products this past winter, in particular their Professional Line, it appears that Mothers is moving upward. The line is inexpensive by no means, which must suggest that its components are of at least decent quality. Anyone that has tried the products, what are your thoughts? Good, bad, and why?
I think I've seen the ones you were talking about. The Professional line as in machine polishes, correct?
I heard about this as well, but I think I remember hearing that they aren't anything special. Here is a link to the list of them. MothersĀ® Professional Machine Glaze
I know AG carries this line. Shoot Mike Phillips a pm or email, I'm sure he'll be happy to give you some feedback on the products w/ out bias.
IMHO the days of having 3 or 4 abrasive polishes from compounding down to finishing/finessing are slowly coming to an end thanks to system 1 X3 and the new Clearcoat Solutions ceram X4 (new version of X3) along with Xpert polishes 1000 or 1500, Gtechniq P1 which although needing some water added to it so it doesnt dry up straight away due to having hardly any lubrication plus last but not least, four star ultimate paint cleanser which can be used with any pad grade from wool down to 100 ppi jewelling foam pad or surbuf MF machine pads, makes the need for different grades of polish almost non existant. clear can be softened to make correction alot easier and polishing twice as effective these days. As long as abrasive polishes continue to contain 45 to 60% water, 10 to 15% alum oxide, then stoddard solvent (hydrotreated naptha I think its reffered too), plus kerosene, glycerin etc, then I see no point in buying anything new. Id say its actually better to dry or wet sand with 1500 or 2000 grit then continue with 3000, 4000 and 5000 grit sanding discs and then use one product rather than stop at 2000 and buff the hell out of the paint with four different polishes.
