So this is my second winter with my car and I noticed that my side view mirrors get a lot of water on them (snow weather) and fog up and the water just stays on my mirrors instead of sliding off. This makes them almost useless because it just becomes a blur. Also my windshield use to deflect water pretty good but now when it rains the water just stays on my windshield and in a way it almost attracts it making it very difficult for me to see out of it. I have to rely heavily on my wipers constantly changing their speed etc. My question, is there a way to clean it and apply some type of product to keep the water away? Can I just use carnauba wax on my mirrors and windshield? should i clay them first? Thanks,
if you look at DD's writeups he does seal the glass and mirrors. this is the one he talks about it more though http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/f46/detailers-domain-new-car-prep-bmw-13077.html
duragloss makes a product called rain repel which should help solve your problem. as long as you're moving, the water will blow off.
aquapel is great for the windshield. sealant is good for the mirrors and the rest of the exterior glass.
What Rich said. Rain Repel is great stuff. It's glass cleaner plus rain repellent in one product, saving you a step. Far less hateful to use than Rain-X, too.
I use Klasse AIO on windows without any issues. And yes, my Acura does see snow, as I take it to South Lake Tahoe (Sierra at Tahoe skiing resort) every winter. Klasse AIO makes water bead and sheet right off.
Thanks a lot for the products guys. Also wondering which would last a longer time. Don't really want something that's going to last a few days. Something that lasts atleast a month.
