Do you guys color code your MF towels to a specific job? If so what color and brand do you use for each?
I use DetailersDomain towels for polish and wax removal, and Costco MF's for windows interior wipe downs and sometimes if they are new-wheel wipedowns. I've found that Phil's MF's are very plush on your paint, but they do leave some lint....you have to look at an angle but it's there, and the Costco's are lint free, but I wouldn't dare touch paint with them If you've never touched an Adam's towel you're missing out BIG TIME they are the most unbelievable plush towels on earth...they lint like a mother but I have them just to touch them and say ooooo and ahhhh.....no joke
I got a chance to try out some PakShak towels last week. From now on all my towels will come from there. The ultra plush towels are awesome for polish, wax, sealant, and glaze removal. Ill color code those so I use a different towel for polish, wax, and sealant, and they will all be washed separately. I dont use glaze except on the door jams. For windows, I currently use the Cobra glass towel. I also have two Guzzlers, but will be getting PakShak WW's. My Cobra indigos will be used for removing sealant from rims, Cobra Jrs. will be used for removing whatever I put in the door jams. Then Ive got some Advance Auto MF for engine bays.
Good info guys.....Thanx!! Soooo many diferent brands all claiming to be the best of the best its hard for a new guy to sift through the hype. Prolly gonna be one of the more confusing hobbies I have.......... Anyone else?? Post your towels and confuse me more
:rollinglaugh: :rollinglaugh: well to this wonderfull hobby there are two ways you can go...one is re-searching, get opinions like your doing and then taking the plunge and sticking with what you purchased, I call this the smart way. The other option still involves reading and getting opinions but at the end purhcase the products that you find interesting, try them out and see what you like best...see detailing is one of those hobies that what works for one person may not work well for the next, once you start detailing you soon start to realise what works for you and what dosen't...oh please don't take it as tough I'm questioning your detailing abilities or anything like that...just saying what happened with me. As you can imagine option two is great but it has a negative effect on your bank account :coffee: :coffee: but it's quite enjoyable to see your collection grow and grow opcorn:
I use my orange Vroom towels for dirty work. I use my gray Vroom towels for "cheap" details, even though they're actually really great towels. The yellow/black CG towels are my high end ones. I have so many, I just use them as to what I feel like that day!
HAHAHA you can question my detailing abilities all you want. Ive always liked a clean set of wheels but with my job and never being home its hard to spend a day detailing on my few days off......you know............ when the beer fridge is full. I was once a customer and now am looking to try and do some of this stuff myself. What I do find helps in creating question for me is the details you guys post. I look and find what looks good to me and find out what was used to get that look......and then the reading starts and confusion short after. As for the bank account this new hobbie will be easier on the wallet than my other hobbies. Turbos and transmissions make vintage look like a deal.
Sweet turbos and transmissions that's just wicked :wicked: that's my next little project  well not really a project more like the car I want  but I got to get it by the wife first...she sets the rules doncha know :deal: when she says jump I go like this :worship: hahaha teasing....I'm glad the write ups help you out, actually I have to agree with you. I remember when I started off I went through so many write ups and wrote down a bunch of products to do some reading on. Even now those UK boys are schooling me, man the UK detailers are wicked just wicked....they do things that blow me away....oh don't get me wrong not that I'm saying we Canadians/US guys don't do a good job is just that the UK boys are a total different bread that's all....well you know what I mean the more I type the worse it gets :eyebrow:
Ill let ya in on a tip:shh:.............Its easier to ask for forgivness than it is permission:headbang: Now go buy that car :chest: Disclaimer: Make certain the garage is comfortable....you may sleep there for a night or two
   oh I hear you buddy :rollinglaugh: :rollinglaugh: only problem is that I can't fit any more vehicles in the garage let alone a bed in there :rollinglaugh: If all goes well soon I'll have the vehicle I want..all in good time...no need to rush it...but man I want the car so bad I could almost feel it :beerbang:
I only use the pakshak towels, I color code them for each job. I use my cobra towels for the engine bay or on something that doesnt matter if the towel gets destroyed from use. Dan, glad to see you liked the towels we used on the Bently.
I like the way you think!!! OT: Yup I color code my towels.. makes it easier that way... I didn't use by color at first and it was a nightmare
carlos i have lots of couches... you can use one in exchange for the spare set of keys... let me know
I have them coded in ziplocs or in those clear medium/small plastic totes...I have a ton of the same but I also have so many odd ones because I have a buying problem.... vikings xl for drying or WW for expensive details BJs WS or SAMS MFs for wheels and interior and terry towels for jambs and engine bay excel and sonus for removal of lsps along with some midrange for collinite type stuff i seriously have a buying problem, im admitting it
