Does anyone know where to find these pads (6in and 4in)? I have checked everywhere. Thank you.

I have been using these pads for quite a while now and like them a lot. If I had to compare them to another pad, I would say they are similar to the purple foamed wool. Typically, I try to stay away from wool unless it is totally necessary. Most of the time, I use foam pads for cutting all the way down to finishing, but on some paints, foam is not agressive enough to cut through the heavier defects, so a wool pad is needed.

What's great about these pads is that they do not shed like most wool pads and are available in different sizes. There's nothing worse than trying to polish a car with a typical 8 or 9-inch wool pad. They are difficult to manuever in tight spaces and are not very precise. These pads are not as thick as a typical twisted wool pad and make compounding in tight spaces much easier.

As I'm sure you already know, typical wool pads can leave some pretty serious compounding haze and wool pad marring behind, which can be extremely difficult to remove. I find that the black lambs wool pads have just the right amount of cut, without being overly agressive. Some paints may require multiple passes to remove the defects, but the time that is saved not having to remove severe marring is huge. They will definitely leave a slight haze behind, which is easily removed with a medium grade polish. In some cases, it may be possible to go right to a finishing polish, but I always follow behind with a medium polish and finishing polish just to be safe.

One of my favorite combos which I have been using is the black lambs wool pad paired with Menzerna Power Finish (203). It can remove very serious defects and leave the paint surprisingly glossy. If you use a heavy duty compound with this pad, you are obviously going to have some serious compounding haze, which is to be expected. Since I have been using these pads, all of my different grade Edge wool pads have been collecting dust in the corner.

Below are a few pictures of a black VW Phaeton I detailed last summer, which had fairly hard paint. The product used was Mark V MV-350, which is a very agressive compound.

Thanks for the input Rick. I got my tuf bufs delievered today. I bought a few 5, 6 and 3inch pads to test out. I will play around with Power Finish and some GI polishes as well with them and see what they are capable of.
