hello all, i have some mint green mf's i got fro m pakshak about 8 years ago...the towels are still fluffy but i think they are causing some streaking / micro marring...so i purchased some new towels from rainey and some micro restore. my question is this i have always washed my towels with what ever detergent i used on my clothes and no fabric softner, i wonder if the detegent is what is causing the streaking ? also im thinking i will wash the new towels by themselves with the micro restore and then wash the old towels and test. also do you normally wash new towels before use?
I always wash my towels by themselves in hot water with a microfiber detergent. Since doing this I have towels as old as your from Ranney and they work just as well as the day I bought them.
Always wash your towels before you use them. You never know where your towels were stored prior to your purchase or what they could have picked up during the packing/shipping process. I use a detergent with my towels in addition to the micro-restore. I buy soaps that are color and scent free. During the first wash cycle I'll use both the unscented soap and micro-restore. On the second rinse cycle I use white vinegar to get out any left over soap. As for your old towels, it could be that maybe they are retaining soap or have a build up of product in the fibers that may not come out. If they're that old I would just demote them for use on wheels or door jambs. Use your new ones for paint only and try re-washing them with the micro-restore only. Also, if you dry your towels in the drier, don't use a fabric sheet or fabric softeners. I use the drier balls on low heat and take them out while they're still slightly humid and let them finish air drying.
washed them twice in the micro restore...they sure feel softer hopefully we will see in the morning if the sun allows it. thanks guys
