I feel like I could really use an extra few feet of hose for my Vac N Blo. My truck is a bit tall and the 6 foot hose doesn't really cut it alone. I'm thinking about ordering another 6 feet of hose, but I'm afraid that I will lose a significant amount of suction power. I'm sure there are some people who have used extensions, so let me know! Thanks.
I don't think you will lose suction. The pro version has the 4 extensions included and hopefully they wouldn't sell something that would take away from the performance. Which unit do you have? I am saving now for the pro, which mounts on the wall and looks to be a little longer then 17" but its hard to tell from pics. Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
I have the Vac n' Blo portable version. Metro Vac N'Blo® Portable Vacuum doubles as a powerful blower. Blow dry your car or motorcycle or vacuum your vehicle's interior with one Metro Vac N
I was looking at that one. Does it hold a decent amount debris before emptying? How is that 95" of water lift? Do you have anything to compare it to? What size is the inlet of the vacuum? Wonder if the ridgid hose(detailing kit at home depot) would fit it? Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
I like the vacuum. I know Costco offers them for a bit cheaper, about $160 and sometimes they run coupons or discounts. It has a good amount of suction and probably needs to be emptied every 5 average dirty customer cars or so. I think it's a 1.75 inch inlet. I use a big Rigid vacuum at work that seems to have a bit more suction, but it is too clunky. The hose is massive and hard plastic and it isn't easily maneuverable. It's good for an enthusiast and a pro detailer (who does higher standards of work and not just high paced). The metro has a soft rubber hose and has good suction, but the hose is much smaller and has it's own pros and cons. It does take a bit longer to vac the bigger open areas, but it is SO much easier (especially with the added tools) to get into the crevices and work around stuff.
I have a 5 year old Ridgid right now that I use. It is loud and also bulky. I just found this vacuum tonight: 5 gal. polyethylene wet/dry vacuum - Powr-Flite and like the specs and the price.
I have the bigger Metro Vac that hangs on the wall. If I could open all the vehicle's doors fully in my garage, it would stay on the wall. It works great with 2 of the long hoses off the wall, next to the vehicle and I dont have to move it to the other side, since the 2 hoses are long enough to reach. It has wheels and is so low to the ground that it rolls easily and doesnt tip over. Since its the long canister, the long bag holds a lot of junk before you have to empty it. The cloth bag is washable too, so that is really nice. At the end of the canister in front of the motor is a round foam filter that is also washable but a spare one and a spare bag is what I keep, because I like to have back up. The guy at Metrovac is a member of the family and a really nice guy to work with/talk to, if you ever decide you want to get help. He pretty much answers the phone if you call and want customer service. And these units are made in the USA ! DanF
mrgolfrider - Yes, I have the longest one, sorry i cant remember the model nbr. Its been a great vacuum for me, runs all day, has tons of power, and I guess I can reverse the hose and use it to blow stuff out.. It will not have the power of the Metro Master Blaster, which is the same size canister, but has 2 motors... Im busy with a very nasty jet black Toyota Sequoia at the moment.. Dan F
Do you have a reference for power when using a longer amount of hose? And a reference towards another vacuum you have used before? Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
mrgolfrider - With the 2 long hoses on this Metrovac, I never have trouble picking up anything. In fact, when I empty the bag, there is alot of lint like stuff in it, so that alone tells me this thing can extract. It also has a 2-stage motor I believe, so it has extra power when called upon. . Before buying this I had the standard large shop vac with the honking big, inflexible, hose and attachments that were the size of small ferrets. Not good when detailing little areas in vehicles.. While the big shop vac has power too, I have not once regretted buying the Metrovac. It is so much easier to use and get into and out of vehicles, hang up on the wall, etc... And its way quieter too.. I would have to believe that if you were to go down to one hose instead of 2, it would have to have even more suction power - there is a shorter distance for the vacuum to travel, right ? But it has never been an issue using it with the 2 long hoses that I have on it. It will pull stuff out of edges, cracks, crevices, just fine. I never have to go back and re-vacuum anything. I know its a stretch at close to what, $300 ? For my requirements and long-term goals, this unit in this size, has been perfect in every way. Hope this helps! Dan F
