Hey does anyone have metal halide lights setup in their garage or shops? If so could you please post up pictures of your setup?

Also could you let me know any cons that are necessarily associated with Metal Halide setups?

    Thanks in advance!

They're expensive, when my brother and I ran our saltwater tanks, the mH lights caused a huge spike in our electricity bill :p

"saltwater tanks" = pot plants in the closet

I have a metal halide light in my garage. I have yet to set it up. I believe they run 2-300. I got mine for free.

Not to jump on the flavor of the month bandwagon too hard but I am looking into MH lighting as well. I mean if it helps spot swirls and defects on lighter colored cars and heavy flake finishes that it would be super useful. On any dark car I have enough spectrums of light to pick up any kind of defect.

Man those things get hot. I would hate to work under those on a summer day.

I too used them for fish tanks.

They sell "portable" metal halide flash lights that would probably work out better and not be so costly. Though I never used them for polishing, with the right temperature bulb (kelvin) im sure they would be killer if not overkill.

Thanks for the info guys. So it gets hot and it's expensive lol :)

I notice that some detailers are using portable MH setups. That is also a consideration.

Dsoto, I haven't come upon metal halide flash lights as of yet. Do you have a link of some sort that I could look at? :)
