Quick question. Has anyone put either 845 or 915 on over power lock. I have a single layer of power lock on the wifey's grey metallic lexus is300 and planned to add a couple coats of 915 over it after the next wash. If 845 would work better I could pick some up. The power lock looks incredible btw.

I was hoping someone has done this and could comment. Thanks so much.

I have 2 layers of 845 on over Power Lock on my wife's metallic grey VW. I think it looks great. I can't speak for the 915 as I don't have any but you should be fine.

I would suggest a layer of Power Lock over a layer of 845 under a layer of 915 and then top it all with another layer of 845 under Power Lock over 915 topped with 476.

My opinion - Put a thin coat of 845 over a thin coat of 845. Thats all you need and you wont have any issues. Bead-o-rama and a really nice shine.

I thought nothing is supposed to go under 845 as it is a solvant.

^ That's what I thought as well, but I'm waiting for more responses on that to make my call. :p

And you haven't noticed the 845 doing anything to the power lock? And do you or anyone else know how different the 915 is from the 845?

Are you serious? I see that you are a DB moderator, and wouldn't expect a sarcastic comment from a moderator, so if you are serious, that is quite the LSP combo! :thumb:

I hear you Joe, but I went with what Phil suggested to me that's why I got the PL. I would hope he wouldn't just try to sell me the newest more expensive thing, but something he thought was better. He has 845 on the site too, but uses PL allot so I went with it. I found out about Phil on the e46 M3 forum and he was very kind to me in his emailings and recommendations. I think I'm going to pick up some 845 for when I detail my dads truck and do exactly what you said. As long as there's some gloss and shine, the durability is what I'd be after with his ride. For my M3 that I plan to do last we'll see. I may go 845 x 2 and maintain with Optimum spray wax, or maybe 845 x 2 then lusso oro, or 845 x1 then 915 x1.

I thought I read this somewhere too which is why I was looking for personal experience, and so far we got 1 person it looks like who has put 845 over the PL with no problems.

    Word.

I have a week to sort it out, otherwise I may just put another coat of PL on; wanted to try something new though :-(

    Thanks for all the replies!

Everything Phil sells, he believes in. He will talk you out of something he doesnt think you need. He is a stand up guy. Thats why he is succesful.
I honestly dont think topping either one is necessary. However, I probably will top the 845 with Glasur or Concorso because I am a product wasting numbskull, who likes to have fun with this stuff. All you should do is, have fun too.
    Take care, Joe D.

As far as I know topping anything with 845 will remove it. I have a coat of 845 under 915 on my car and it's been holding up really well.

I think this pretty much sums it up: 845 goes UNDER anything else. The following layer is up to you to get that look you want.

Here's a thought what about just putting on a second coat of powerlock ? 845 is an excellent product . But usually use it a s a base coat

I will try to help, many people say that layer upon layer does not solve other says it solves, we have a debate at a forum in Brazil that a member insists he has 845 power to clean the painting and thus could not give two layers, I already did spit shine with 845 and say I got a nice result.
+'ll leave a video to show q say, if it is against the rule of the forum moderators please delete the video.

I couldn't agree with u more that Phil is a stand up guy. He was great with his help in choosing products which is why he got my business instead of somebody else. And trust me I'm having a blast with this stuff!

In retrospect I think this is maybe what I should have done for this reason. It rained the day after I put the PL on and the slickness of the car is completely gone. Oh well. I might onr it tonight or tomorrow and try the 915 on top and see what I get. Maybe the slickness is supposed to go away that fast but it is still protecting?

Well I know what my lsp combo is going to be next! Now I gotta pick up some 845! Oh well. I wanted to try some optimum spray wax and optimum apc so away we go. It never ends!! I love it!

I'm gonna do this on my dad's truck in the next month.

I haven't been uber impressed with the powerlock durability as the slickness is already gone after 4 days. I think I'll go 845 and see how that sorts out. Thanks.

845, while it is technically a nuba/sealant hybrid, should be treated mainly as a sealant. i would never put 845 over top of anything, as it is high in solvent content. theres really no point putting 845 on top of any other LSP for this reason, as well as the fact that it is PLENTY durable on its own. if you want to amp up the looks of 845, put it down first, then top it with a nice nuba. i usually use 845 on its own, layered, but i have had excellent results topping 845 with swissvax, autoglym hd, and CG petes 53 just to name a few. i have 845 topped with autoglym hd wax on a bunch of customers cars right now, so we'll see how long they hold up through the winter etc. im expecting great durability results, as one of my customers had 2 layers of 845 topped with swissvax for his winter prep last year, and he got over 6 months of SOLID protection out of it.

Billy, thanks so much for your reply. I won't be puttingdown any 845 over the PL then. Next time I need a sealant/lsp 845 it is. I think tonight I'm going to onr the wife's car now that it stopped raining and put a coat of 915 on. Hopefully the solvent content of the 915 doesn't mess anything up. Next time I think I'll go 845 then 915 or 845 then lusso oro or something. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

powerlock is great under nubas nonetheless, it also worked great on windows
dont be disheartend by owning the PL cuz its still great but collinite 845 is durability king haha

I hear ya. I'm not disheartened. But for me and my fleet, I would trade a little gloss for more durability. Thanks!

I always think that Collinite products are heavy in solvent and it'll remove anything under it, cmiiw
