    I have 106ff, do I really need 85RD?

not necessarily. matter of preference. some people do just finish up with the 106ff.

how much cut does the 106 have compared with the 85?

It does have a little more but you can alter how they cut by what pad you use. 85rd is a favourite for jeweling using a black or blue pad.

Bingo! Although both are "finishing polishes" by description, 106FF does have some cut to it while 85RD has no cut but can produce a nicer finish than 106FF. I like to keep things simple. Power Gloss for compounding, SIP for polishing on a variety of pads and 85RD for finishing.

same for me. my usual polishing processes are:

-M95 + tuf buff wool for compounding
-SIP on a variety of pads. use on a white or black pad for 1-step polish
-106ff i use on a green pad. i barely use it.
-85RD for finishing on a black 3M UK pad, blue 3M UF UK pad, or black CCS pad.
