So spring is coming around hopefully quickly and I plan on doing a lot of work with my new rotary. I just recently purchased Menz P0203 Power Finish and look forward to using it but from reading a lot of the posts on here and seeing a lot of the details people have done I find that more people use PO85RD3.02 and the results are fantastic and seems to be a go to for a lot of people. Did I buy the wrong product, should I have gone with PO85RD3.02? Also I plan on using the the P0203 with green CC pads, is that generally an effective combo?

They're different products for different uses. PO203S is what I would call a "medium polish." It's got good correction abilities, and if you use it properly, can finish down LSP ready. 85RD is a finishing polish - used to refine the finish to its absolute best. 85RD doesn't have much correction ability at all.

These are the two polishes I use the most these days. My approach is usually pretty simple - if I'm satisfied with the results after just PO203, I stop. If I feel like the finish can be made better, I'll do a second pass with 85RD and a finishing pad.

    HTH.

Great advice, this is what I plan on doing with the Menz line. I'll be doing M105/M205 with the Meg's line. These are two combinations that are really hard to beat. :thumb:

Well with the SIP, you will probably have to do a next step most of the time..and i say most of the time because some people actually dont on white/silver/gold cars. I always do, i love 85rd so i use it :) But Powerfinish def has its place because it gives you the option of stopping after one step on a lot of colors. Great product, i have both Powerfinish and SIP and feel a need for both. Or i could just use M105 and lose everything, that is another great one!

Specific Paint types / Polish and Foam Pad Combinations:

    a) Dark or Soft Paint Finishes - PO 85 RD 3.01 Super Intensive Polish (F) black or dark coloured paint surfaces, and 'soft' paint - 1200 RPM -White primary (softer less dense foam (70 PPI) with a light abrasive cutting action ) LC CCS foam pad followed by a secondary Blue finishing (very soft 100 PPI) LC CCS foam pad - 1100 RPM

    b) Light / Medium Paint Correction - Power Finish (PO203S) and PO 85 D3.01 polishes (LC CCS Green / LC Blue foam or Micro Mesh TufBuf ® black lamb’s wool pads 1500 - 2000 RPM) should be all you need.

    c) Paint Renovation - PO S34A Power Gloss (LC Purple wool pad 1500 – 1800 RPM) it has a short work time slow cut but tends to ‘dust’

Uhhh, isn't PO85RD3.02 also PO83 which is also SIP? I don't think the OP was asking about 85RD.

I appreciate the info here. I've had similar questions. I'm looking to replace my Megs M66 with a light cut polish before an LSP. I've been using the M66 as a polish/wax for "maintenance" details as it has enough polish to get out light clay marring (if necessary) and leaves a fair coat of wax behind. Is Menz 106FA the right polish for this or where does it fit in with the 87MC and the SIP? My plan was M105 for heavy cutting, SIP for medium and 106FA for light polishing or any combo as needed and followed by a wax of choice? Is this the right combo? :shead:

Yeah I was talking more about SIP because from what I hear they are similar but not. But this thread was still on a roll and the information was helpful regardless ahaha. Yeah I was wondering what the biggest difference is, from what I know the cut is more agressive with SIP but I feel like PF will be just as good given the right pads.

I know it's an entirely different issue, but Menzerna's naming conventions really, really need work. This thread is a perfect example...

Yeah, it's pretty flippin dumb, huh? I think it even varies by forum! :shakehead:

OC MBZ, none of the Menzerna polishes leave behind any type of protection; they're not all-in-ones like XMT360 or D151. Your plan is sound, but remember you don't always have to be rigid and stick to that plan. Polishes are pad dependant to a certain degree. Menzerna polishes have diminishing abrasives whereas M105 doesn't. I'm reading about people using M105 with wool, the whole range of foam from finishing to cutting and even a new-to-me pad made by Surbuf. It's good to have a variety of polishes.

87MC and 106FA are both for light polishing, the difference being 106FA is for ceramic clears. And yes, your combo is correct although I would substitute Power Finish for SIP as its a more versatile polish and you can go straight to your LSP after it if you wish.

Yes it is and yes it will.

I appreciate the heads up. I'm familiar that Menzerna polishes don't contain protection. As I mentioned I'll finish any correction with a wax of choice now. I'm not trying set a rigid plan, but want to make sure that I have a fair assortment rather than three finishing polishes since Menz has a few per category. I understand that each has it's own minor differences, but not enough for me to carry ALL of them. Pad selection with take 3 polishes to virtually 15 or more depending on how many pads I have to choose from. The puzzle continues...

    Thanks for the confirmation :thumb:

I ended up coming across the matrix for Menzerna on Auto Geek. Seeing as how I work on a good number of Mercedes-Benz I've decided to get four products. Two products for ceramic paint, 106FA and 83Q as well as 85RD and 203. I'll try all four and report back my experiences.

    Wish me luck!:thumb:

I actually have all four too. All have their uses depending on the hardness of the clear and correction. I also jus tlike having a bigger "arsenal" at my fingertips.
