i was just rummaging through my supplies earlier today as i do from time to time for no apparent reason, and noticed my Menz IP. seems i forgot that i had it. does anyone really even use IP for anything anymore? it may sound weird, but i dont really ever use it, and dont see many people using it. i've used mine for hand polishing areas like insides of doors, jams, rocker panels etc. does anyone who owns it use it at all really? just bored and curious. :cig:
So do I, but I figure you can never have too many polishes. I don't think I've ever even used my IP on actual panels before.
I still have and use IP. Slowly transitioning to SIP but thats going to take some time since I use Prima Swirl in place of SIP for now lol
I thought the difference between sip and ip was that sip was designed for harder clearcoats and the abrasives took longer to break down?
I've found that on softer paints (Honda/Acura), IP worked better than SIP when it came to workability. So, I'd keep hold of both IP & SIP.
I still love IP. On japanese paints it finishes down great for me still. I always keep it on hand and use it regularly along side my other stuff
yeah i figure i'll just hold onto it. no reason to really get rid of it. is it true that IP and SIP have the same cut? for some reason i dont know the definitive answer on this. ive heard yes and no. for some reason im thinking IP has a shorter work time than SIP too, but i could be wrong. i figure its good to have for a sitaution where maybe SIP might be a little too aggressive and 106 might be not enough. id like to try out IP and then finishing with 85RD just to see how it turns out.
According to the Menzerna charge on AutoGeek, the have the same cut (3.5) and the same gloss (3). Obviously though, SIP is meant to be used on a harder paint.
Menz IP 91L is not recommended for japanese paints, they just don't like it SIP on the other hand is no problem I have two bottles of 91L left and no SIP as IMHO, prima swirl blows it away in performance and finish
Sorry, but if IP works on a certain paint, I'm going to use it. Plus, as I mentioned earlier, IP worked much better on soft Acura paint than SIP did.
Some may have seen these pics before, but thought it would be relevant to this discussion. Here is a before of an '03 Acura MDX I did about a year and a half ago. This is from one pass of IP + orange pad on the Flex 3401, and after LSP (Menz FMJ). Before: After: As others, I haven't used mine in a while, but might have to bust it back out on the next Acura that comes down the pipe. Have grown an affinity for SIP over the last year for me go-to medium cut polish. I keep hearing good things about Prima Swirl, and thinking that will be a tax return gift to me.
wow nice. thanks for that little comparison. definitely going to have to bust mine out for my "spring clean up" detail on my car. maybe ill do the hood 50/50, SIP and IP , just for shits and giggles.
