Im thinking about trying these 2 out.Iv seen them mentioned a few times in some details. How well do they work??How do they compare to wolfgang Total Swirlremover and Finishing glaze 3.0(simular to SIP and Nano)
Meguiar's Dual Action Cleaner Polish (#83) and Speed Glaze (#80) are both excellent polishes in my opinion. They are relatively inexpensive, have long working times, and are able to remove moderate to light defects. Since these products both utilize diminishing abrasives, they often leave a finish LSP ready depending on polishing media and paint viscosity. Hope this helps.
Meguiar's Dual Action Claner Polish (#83) should not gum up provided you use enough polish to leave a thin film of product over the surface to be polished and clean your pad frequently. The following is a link demonstrating how to clean your pad on the fly. Cleaning Your Pad On The Fly - Car Care Forums: Meguiar's Online If you are using a rotary polisher, substitute the terry cloth with a soft bristled brush.
Great stuff. But how about stepping into the 21st century and going with 105/205 combo.jk, but really try 105/205.
if i had a flex DA or a rotary i would say yes.But i no the PC is slow to break down any polish.105/205 would take days to break down.lol
Meguiar's Ultra Cut Compound (#105) and Ultra Finishing Polish (#205) utilize super-micro abrasives. Super-micro abrasives do not break down; rather, they continue cutting until the product flashes.
ok but could a Porter Cable with foam pads do anything with it?it was under my understand it was for rotarys only.
ahh 205 is $95...wow.how bout finishing up with #82??would that still be ok?thats more in my budget. edit:haha i was looking at the 128oz....nvm forget i said that
So with my PC what pad combos would be good if i went ahead and go 105/205?I have LC CCS 5.5" pads in Orange,White,Green,Gray and Blue. Also how much correction can i see with my PC?Does it take awhile for the polish 2 flash??and what exactly does that look like?I used to just use swirl remover and go back and forth for about 1-3 minutes.swipe some of the product off and if there was still swirls id go back over. Also can 205 be used by itself for less severe conditions??
Always start with least aggressive method.Do a test area. And go from there with pad choice.Gray,Blue are for glaze and lsp apps.White and Orange are for cutting so i'd start with the white pad green is for hard clears and can leave MM as with the orange pad so be careful.Unfortunatley 105 flashes fast. But the new formula is not supposed to (it just came out and I don't have it yet)need to use up the rest of my 105.Yes you can use 205 by itself for very minor corrections.
i thought according to LC the list of aggressive pads went Yellow, Orange, White then green, gray, blue, and red.So y would green be more aggressive? So your saying the old formula flashed to quickly for a DA so not alot of correction would be done??
I use the CCS technology pads my green/teal pad is for hard clears. This is from CM's site. This green pad is designed for applying a final or finishing polish to remove light swirls, paint defects and for gloss restoration. The 99% open cell structure keeps the pad wetter, longer. This pad is also recommended for applying one-step, cleaner/sealants like Klasse All-In-One and Menzerna One-step, Acrylic Jacket. In aggressiveness, it has about 20% more "cut" or polishing power than our White Polishing Pads but less than our Orange Power Pads. Meg's does not recommend you use 105 with a DA but many have with excellent results. They say that so when an inexperienced person uses it in an unattended way there not liable for mistakes he/she cannot repair. So they came out with a new formula. To combat that.
If you are only detailing your personal cars, you might consider getting Ultimate Compound instead of M105. Like M105 it is based on Meguiar's new micro-abrasive technology, but it's expressly designed for both hand and D/A application. And it comes in smaller bottles and is less expensive per ounce. For a finishing polish, you could then go with either SwirlX or M205. Just a thought.
I do have experience with polishes but i dunno if i wanna chance messing my car up.Thats the reason y i never tried 2 work with a rotary with fear of ruining my paint. What number is Ultimate Coupound??i dont see it anywhere? Is it less apprasive then M105??
Scooby, Ultimate Compound, like SwirlX, belongs to Meguiar's new consumer line of polishes--hence no number, only a name. It's just been released during the past week. You can find it at AutoGeek and Auto Detailing Solutions. I do not know exactly how it compares to M105. I imagine it is pretty close to it in aggressiveness; but like 105 its aggressiveness is also dependent on choice of pad, pressure applied, and working time. You may find this MOL thread of interest. I am still trying to decide whether to stick with my still almost full bottles of M80 and M83 or to switch to M205 and UC. ADS is now offering sample-size bottles of M205, so I might first do that. Fortunately, I don't need to make a quick decision, so I'll wait for the reviews to start coming in on all of these products.
