Apply to a wet or dry wheel? AG or Megs site doesn't specify.

I think it wil be safer to apply it to wet wheel, just like Poorboy's Spray and Rinse.

Wet wheel and don't let it dry on the wheel.

I agree with everyone here, I've only used it with the rims wet....I wonder if it's too strong to apply on the rims dry......if anyone has done this what were the results

Well I think you would want to apply any wheel cleaner on a wet wheel...the hose will get some of the loose grime off before cleaning.

One more thing, people on various forums recommend going over the wheels with a car wash soap after Wheel Brightener to neutralize the surface. I always do this just to be safe.

Agree- a highly alkaline car wash or a bicarbonate / water mix to neutralize the acid

Always check the products MSDS and its pH value before you use it. It is always preferable that you use a 100% acid-free product.

Not: Diluting an acid with water increases the pH (i.e. more acidic)

So if you dilute WB you make it stronger in a sense? Am I reading that right?

What if it's diluted with Distilled water?

No it doesnt make it stronger. It weakens it.

Does adding water change the pH of an acid?
In: Food and Cooking, Chemistry [Edit categories]

Yes it does. pH is defined as the -log of the concentration of hydrogen ions in a solution, or -log[H+]. As you add water to an acid, you are diluting it, thus lowering the concentration of H+. Putting a lower value in for [H+] in the equation -log[H+] will give you a great value than you originally had. This means the pH has increased, making the solution more basic.

What TOGWT said is very confusing/misleading if you dont know about the PH scale. Technically you are raising the PH because an ACID is the lower side of the scale ie 0-7. So by adding water and diluting it you are raising the PH and bringing it closer to 7 which is neutral.

So yes, adding water RAISES the PH but youre not making it stronger, you are in fact diluting it.

learn something new everyday. I have used it on dry wheels many times with no negative results to report. Worked fine for me that way but i will try it on a wet wheel and see what the difference is . . . . if any.
