I want the purple cutting soft buff pad from Megs, its 6.5inch and has a velcro back. Any reason why I cant use theses with the 3401? They seem fine.

the velcro might be a hint small.

the velcro is small but the pad does fit nicely

actually its my favorite pad so far for the 3401, you can get quite a cut and finish down nicely

Good to hear. I was getting a little tired with the ornage CCS pads, the 6.5inch IMO are fine but I dont like working with them although green is fine, and for some reason I really dont like the 5.5inch orange ones(and I realized this after I just bought 9 new ones) I just ordered 2 Megs purple soft buffs to try out, something about flat pads surfaces that I prefer.

Where can I get these purple pads you speak of at a reasonable price? Are they a direct replacement of the Orange LC pads or are they closer to the yellow LC pads?

I bought mine from Amazon.com, havent tried them w/ the flex yet but I believe they are similar to the LC orange foam. I compared the 2 and they seem to be of the same density.

what about correcting power? Because if there is no difference, I'm not inclined to purchase more pads.

I would assume they correct about the same, although I do like the fact that soft buffs are flat. Usually white and green CCS pads dont bother me but orange ccs im not in love with because the foam is more dense. Hoping to test out the purple soft buffs soon and will write a review.

the purple (maroon) soft buffs on the 3401 work so good. you wont be disapointed.

With a maroon cutting pad on the flex with PG I was able to "easily" pull out 2000 gritt sanding marks with two passes and finish down near lps ready, and she was running smooth with the pad.

Also the CG MPT pads work great with the flex for future reference.

you know it's guys like you that have such good impressions of the product that make guys like me go broke buying the product! :(.

I'll try and trade for a few, or pick a few up to keep. 2 purple pads should be good, I have a bunch of LC FLAT pads so I should be fine for now I guess.
