Look at this video I just found, the dude uses a bucket with 3 gallons of water, adds 3 ounces of Meguiar's Last Touch Spray Detailer, and then proceeds to do a rinseless wash just like with ONR !!! Did you guys know about this???' YouTube - Rinse-less Car Wash How-To with Meguiar's Last Touch, by MARK KLEIS (NOT ONR)
Mark Kleis( Mod on MOL) says he's been using this method on customers and his own cars for months and have not noticed any marring resulting from it. The thread on MOL. How-to Wash your car with a Rinse-less Wash System [video] - Car Care Forums: Meguiar's Online
It is always interesting to see different washing techniques. When I use a rinseless, I am generous so I am not just wiping with a damp towel. I get the mitt saturated and let it fall on the paint. I do not think Meguairs has passed the hurdle to sell / promote rinseless washing in the US yet. even if the Last Touch product was equal to ONR. My guess they fear issues if they offered an OTC product and then got negative feedback from some showing how it marred their car.
Interesting, between this and the thread on autopia where some guys were using carsoap as rinseless washing, I have to wonder if its becoming the IN thing to try and circumvent ONR?
My eyes lit up when I saw this video but I'm not about to order a gallon of Last Touch to use as a rinseless wash any time soon. I'd ratther see a dedicated product from Meuiar's that is a true rinseless wash product. Either way, ONR isn't the only rinseless wash, there is DP Rinseless Wash and I really like it. I was just curious if maybe I was missing something big....in the meantime I'll stick with my beloved ONR and DP Rinseless Wash & Gloss.
Meguiar's have a Waterless System that they've been selling in Australia for a while now (due to the water restrictions). It's not really the same as ONR though - it's just a duster, QD, and a MF towel.
I think what you are seeing is that Optimum helped break the barrier (I now there were others like QEW) by popularizing the concept. The technology has been there but just not well accepted by public so we see chemically similiar products being used in a similar manner. The difference is people have used Optimum and now trust it. Not many have used Meg's LT so there is less confidence. It would take more detailers using it regularly and publicize results. I am sure Meg's can make a rinseless or waterless product. The question is do they want to?
i seen this video a while ago . . . . . not sure if it is good or not. I think we should leave it to ONR though for now LoL.
anyone try this? i'm about to dig deep into my closet to pull out my last touch to finally use (both as a QD and as a rinseless wash perhaps)
Negative, way too scared to try it...that and I don't have Last Touch so I'm not gonna go out of my way to buy it. Just sticking with ONR and DP Rinseless.
Maybe I'm remembering this wrong, but I thought I read where LT is marketed as a rinseless wash in other countries. IIRC, Australia was the example given. I know there are a lot of down-under folks on here. Maybe they will chime in?
i use last touch as a drying aid, and it works excellent. I should give that rinseless method a try with it. It's way less expensive than onr.
