An Army friend of mine wanted me to detail his wife's Mazdaspeed 3. The story goes that she rarely keeps it clean, and beats it up and since they have a 4-year old it makes it interesting on the interior. The car has had some previous body work done to the passenger quarter panel since it was hit in a parking lot, and the dent was enough to warrant the entire QP replaced. the amazing thing was that it does not look like anything happened to it. the body shop in town is called Quality Auto Body, and they do some great work, they mostly do insurance claims, and the occasional custom work, they can even give it the OEM orange peel. Well, on to the detail. Before: The most damaged part of the car As you can see, the car has some water spots, in some parts it has etched the paint which i am not able to do yet because i do not have the equipment for paint correction. some light swirling from improper washing Car was previously waxed courtesy of the body shop, and luckily did not swirl the paint too bad or give it any holograms I washed the previous application of wax with Dawn dish soap. As well as the entire car since i have not had the time to order my Wish List from DD I used Meg's clay bar and QD and surprisingly for an '05 car with 9k miles the paint is extremely clean, all panels came out like this: The rear bumper had the most scratches since the car is the wife's, and its her only car, it gets its good share of damage. This is the deepest scratch. i decided to give this scratch remover a try, was cheap at $5, and couldn't hurt to see what else was under there. just a small drop on a cotton applicator pad and after a few more applications this is the result: so it seems the scratch is in the clear, but hey, at least it cleaned it up nicely, and even got rid of or hid some of the smaller ones :giggle: And the finished product: Forgot to take pics of this area since this is where the youngling sits in his car seat, and thus had crushed cookies and dried up liquid candy Tires were dressed with Meg's Endurance and let sit for 30min then wiped off with a clean cotton applicator And waxed with Meg's Gold Class paste wax some of my best shots i could come up with wow, megs made these flakes come out... i never knew Mazdaspeed paint used blue and gold flake on top of black, non-Mazdaspeed cars dont have flake Not bad for my first real client eh? Also, he told me if i ever need a practice panel for when i do get equipment for correction, that i can use the Speed3 since once he comes back from his second tour in Iraq, which he leaves sometime between March and August time frame, that its going to get a complete repaint.
Great turn around, the interior looked like it needed some TLC. Nothing wrong with the end results :applause:
Nice job. You'll be amazed at what you can do once you get the correct equipment especially as well as you did without it. Really quality work and great 1st job. That gives you a really nice calling card.
Nice finish:applause2:! Its good to see people actually doing interior details too around here, I guess were all just paint finish crazy though. BTW I have the exact same PW sitting in my garage, ran the motor without enough oil and SEIZED IT! Took it to 3 different shops to tell me what happened. Anyway just got a Cam Spray so no more pull starts but when the Briggs did work it was great.
Thanks, I include interior details at no extra charge if it isn't too bad. I do like this PW, best $150 spent. what foam cannon did you use with the PW? im looking for one as i go through alot of soap using the little tube at the bottom
