    Ok,

So I don't have the patience to sort through the whole forum for an answer to this.

My SUV is completely covered in what looks like overspray. It's whitish/greyish in color.

I tired ricardo blue and uber clay and it takes anywhere from 2-4 passes in each area.

Now I have 3-4 other clays I have yet to try, but I was wondering if the Valugard Decon kit would be a better bet for this.

I don't want to spend forever claying, and I want to avoid any machine work if possible.

I will try and get some pics tomorrow of this, but most should understand what it looks like.

Any info/advice/help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    -Roger.

  2. Wow, this sucks donkey Rog. Sorry to here

I have no experience with the decon kit. But have loads of expierence in overspray removal :knit:

Did it get all over the trim/tires? < This will be your biggest challenge :thud:

Did a contractor do this? If so, go have a visit with them. You can squeeze around $500 out of them to have it detailed :deal:

Good luck dude. If I can help, let me know :chips:

its just a mist over the vehicle. not on tires/wheels. I have black paint so it was easy to see. I think one of my neighbors must have been painting something outside.

  4. Well, I would keep my eyes peeled for which one of your neighbors has a fresh coat of whiteish/greyish paint and go have a talk :bat:

Your very lucky its not on your trim or tires. I would clay w/APC (10:1) as lube. It will probally take a whole bar, maybe two

a firmer/more aggressive clay has worked well for me when removing over spray like Meg's aggressive or a purple CG bar

3m adhesive remover is your best friend

  7. The only prolem with that is you will need a multi step correction afterwards, but sometimes thats what it takes

I work in the insurance business as a field adjuster and there have been scenarios of overspary which were corrected with some solvent. Try it in a small area to see if the overspray comes off.

I know that in certain cases, the solvent wont work which is when I opt for the respray option.

Please keep us posted on how your progress, Im really sorry to hear that this happened to your vehicle.

Any marring from an aggressive clay should easily clean up with a finishing polish like 106fa.

before I got into detailing I had gotten black spray paint all over my car. I bought an OTC product called "paint cleaner" step 1 of meguiar's deep crystal system. I used it on a MF and did the whole car. it removed all of the overspray I had on the vehicle.

Do you know if it is water based or solvent based paint? This will determine the method used. Solvent does work but I always revert back to the clay. I used to do overspray removal for 4 paint companies and it was a lot of work. It is easy enough to remove the ill effects of aggressive clay with a DA and a product like Meg 205 or Menzerna 106.

A black truck with overspray. Not good. I own an overspray removal company and restoring a black vehicle to perfect condition is not an easy feat. DO NOT use solvents, be very very careful with the clay and do not try to buff it out.

There are some major tricks in this trade and very few people really know how to handle this situation. Black vehicles are the WORST. The other area of difficulty is the trim. An experience overspray removal expert would be able to correct but they often are not interested in working with small claims such as yours.

I would advise you to locate an overspray specialist via web. If you keep quiet they may just clean the vehicle in your presence and you could learn a few tricks.

    Good luck.

Respray? For overspray!! I've never seen a vehicle where the ovespray couldn't be removed from *the paint* and warranted spending multiple thousands of dollars repainting. What Insurance company are you with?

Clay 1st > Solvent (laquer thinner) > 4000 grit sand - It's going to need buffing after.

I think I will try claying with some of the other clays I have first. It's mostly just on the paint (luckily).

It might take a while, but claying will be a good thing anyways, overspray or not.

I think it all came from someone spraypainting outside, and it was close enough, so the wind planted some of it on my vehicle.

It's kinda hard to prevent things like this from happening, when I don't have a garage, and living in a densely populated area such as a major city, like I do.

Thanks to all those who offered suggestions and advice on this.

Hey, I need to drop you a PM I could save your company loads of cash and you could look like a hero :headbang:

I also have a seperate division of my company that specializes in overspray/fallout removal. My main client is a painting contractor who specialises in Hi-Rises, Casinos, Amusement Parks and Hospitals. I have worked all over this country doing overspray removal for him and have literally done Hundreds of jobs. You should here some of the horror stories he had encountered before hooking up with me more then 15 years ago. I have also worked with Nationwide and State Farm in the past also. Its not the most glamerous job and you meet ppl in there worst state of mind, but theres good money in this field :cig:

Roger, I have full confidence you will be able to handle this. I would however try to locate who may be responsible for this and make them pay. Might as well make some money off the deal, no :peace:
