this is the 2nd time my makitas power cord shorted out at tne butt on the job. last time i had it repaired but does anyone know of a fix i can do myself? any help and pics would be greatly appreciated.
When I was looking at rotary's while back I came up on this issue and saw that most just fixed it as it is a quick fix. Some also taped the cord as it came out the body as it was being stressed too much and was twisting thus pulling the wires out.
they sell replacement cords at lowes that you can instal to replace broken power cords on electrical items. The power cord on my P/C got all Jacked up and was shorting out.... I bought a replacement cord and had my buddy solder it on!!!
what cord might this be? I know there was a couple of threads previously about stuff like this but i was on my cell phone when i posted this up in hopes to get some answers. I know if i take this and drop it off it will not only cost but will also leave me without a tool for a few days. Hopefully i can get it all fixed up
Should be able to go to hardware store where they have power cords and fine on that the male end on it and the other end is bar wire. Get a nice thick gauge wire. But you should be able to fix the OE wire. Went back on some notes I had, yes I had notes, and cord breaking seems to be from what I said, the little stress re-leaf thing is way to stiff and puts lot of stress on the cord and lets the cord twist which pulls the wire out of the connectors in the main body. Any basic tool repair place should be able to fix it if you dont think you can/want to.
i was looking for the thread that was here in which some guys were saying it happens to them so much they can have it fixed in about 5 minutes LoL. The first time it happened i took it a prt and springs and crap were popping all over the place hahahaha. Nah but the dial popped off and i finally got to the point where i just dropped it off to get repaired but if i can save me $40 by fixing it even better. The people told me the wire wasn't bad they just trimmed off the bad part and used the same wire. I think it's the makita bag. The way you need to situate the buffer in the bag bends the rubber end where the cord enters through and over time that i believe kills the wire. I need a nice case or to even just get a plastic bin of some sort for my buffer.
really? i swear you had a picture posted up . . . . maybe it was the case for your wax and stuff then LoL
Hmm, I have case for my Insignis and other wax's; for my Flex, I have a flex bag and lined it with foam on the bottom and cubed foam that was cut so hold the flex and the top of the flex wax level with the top of the foam so it is level to put pads on top.
man well i fixed the Makita but now the same issue i had last time . . . . the speed dial part is all messed up. There is a spring that sits behind the dial and when you first take it a part you can't see how the spring sits. I was trying my best to not knock the dial off and it eventually came lose while repairing the Makita and now that it's all back together the dial pretty much just spins freely LOL like the wheel on the price is right.
