    Hey guys,
So I have recently fallen in love with the m105 with my makita 9227 as well as the PC, but the cleanup of the residue after polishing is a b***h!!

I seem to need to "scrub" with a MF towel to get the stuff off. Almost so hard as to make a squeaky sound on the paint to get it off. I'm afraid with so much pressure I might be damaging the paint; which of course is a no-no :]\

So what do you guys do to remove the residue after compounding with m105?

One thing I haven't tried is spraying IPA after I polish and wipe down with that. However, that's a lot of IPA just to use to remove the product.... any other suggestions?

    Thanks!!

    -Jake

Distilled water worked well when I was in my M105 "mode" :)

Just spray a bit of distilled water before removing the residue?

oh man. I even have a distilled spray bottle in my kit for use with the KB 105 method. WIN!

Thanks! I'll give that a try this weekend!

Yeah, I spray, let sit for like 10 sec for it to "absorb" then I remove it :)

If that doesnt work, try IPA...of if you want, keep buffing till its gone

You may be working the compound for too long. I've experienced similar issues where a transparent haze of polish residue remains and is very difficult to remove. If the previous advise presented in this thread does not deliver desirable results, I would reduce the number of passes per set or RPMs to alleviate this problem.

    +1^^

when M105 is hard to remove that is the polish telling you to work it less... using force to remove the over worked compound is a sure fire way to induce marring due to the non diminising abrasives

When I use M105, there usually isn't much left for me to buff off.

Agreed. Sounds like you are using too much product. There really shouldn't be anything left when you are done.

I also agree. To much product being used. Don't dry buff...but if your useing the correct amount there will be little left to remove.

thanks guys! Yea I think I was putting a little too much product on the paint to begin with.

I'll try a smaller amnt and a little bit of IPA to get the stuff off.

I just love the 105 too much to try something different :]
