How many people use a DA or Rotary for waxing the car? Any difference between the two? I have always applied PL and my wax by hand and removed it by hand. I do own a DD black pad and have not used it and am looking at ways to cut down on my detail time.

If I apply PL, 845 or any liquid lsp I use my flex. It saves so much time and allows you to apply a much thinner coat making removal really quick as well.

For me its waxes by hand and sealants by machine. I find applying sealants by machine really helps with spreading it evenly and thoroughly, not wasting product, and quicker. I also tend to have a heavy hand so when I go to remove the sealant it can be difficult or I can see in the paint where I pressed harder than in other areas.

same here, wax by hand (1z being an exception) and sealants with DA, more accurate when it comes to laying out thin even coats..

I do all LSP by hand; guess Im too anal about wasting pads that dont always get clean with LSP's in them. Maybe this will change..
Learned how to put very thin coats on because I used Zaino for years before all the sealants, etc., caught up to them. :)
    Thin coats = no problemo ! :)

Anything liquid by machine but not a rotary, anything hard/thick paste(PB wheel sealant) will be by hand.

Waxes always by hand. Sealants with the machine if I have the machine already out. If not, then by hand.

Sealants by machine (PC), waxes like P21S, Fk1000p, #845 by hand. The PC cuts the application time in half, and spreads it thin and even.

agree with what has been said.

wax paste by hand, and liquid waxes and sealants by machine.

What speed on the DA are you guys using when applying sealant? I'm guessing slow speed and next to no pressure?

The only paste wax I use with the DA is Autoglym HD. I popped it out of the tub and wipe on a pad. Actually works reallly well. Considering the wax can be a little tough to remove, this makes it thin enough so its a breeze!

Also, most sealants I use are applied by DA, except Glanz. I dont know why, but I just like speading that one by hand.

I use the PC with all sealants and liquid waxes. I usually do apply paste waxes by hand, but sometimes I will apply them by machine. Although I'm starting to use the PC more and more for all LSP's because I can apply it faster and with thinner, more even coats.

Sounds as though I am doing it right. I was applying MPL with a black pad and using speed 3 or 4 on my PC with the machine weight for pressure. If the pad will turn at speed 3, I use that, otherwise if it doesn't turn i bump it up to 4.

    Thanks!

Used my 3401 with DD Black Pad yesterday to spread MPL and this helped me cut down on my LSP time noticeable! I was so excited that I did 2 coats for my client!
