This is not a "What's your favorite soap" thread...let's just start right there. I want to use a thread for us to narrow down the finest 3-5 MAINTENANCE shampoos. In a maintenance shampoo, slickness is paramount...also, gloss and depth (either maintained or added to the surface) after the wash. First, I want to talk about 1Z perls shampoo (http://www.detailersdomain.com/1zeinszett-perlsshampoo.aspx) I don't think there is a finer maintenance shampoo out there. The slickness and lubricity is beyond insane, and talk about leaving a nice finish after the final wipe down? This shampoo is engineered to add depth and protection, and boy does it add depth! When I think of gentle, I think of perls. It's suds up just enough, and rinses REALLY REALLY clean. My only complaint is it doesn't smell all that great....kinda like mustard :/ Meguiar's Shampoo Plus. Awesome slickness and lubricity. suds like nuts, and has great cleaning ability. I'm not on the impressed side with the finish, but it's good. Mainly use this if I'm out of Perls and waiting on a shipment. Smells really awesome, kinda like a nice shaving cream smell. I think this is pretty much an excellent standard shampoo. Zaino Z7. Slickness and lubricity are nice, not insane, but nice. the finish is great especially on a zaino'd finish. it does sud up a good bit, but rinses clean. BUT, THE SMELL....oh man, I could talk about it all day....blueberry HEAVEN. the 2 more shampoo's I have my eyes on but am DYING to try are Dodo Juice Born To Be Mild, and Lusso Auto Bathe ( I hear this stuff smells like AMAZING!) My hopes it to post pics of washing with each as soon as I have time, but for now wanted opinions. Thanks guys!
Born to be Mild is great, though I do prefer Sour Power. Lusso works well, but in comparison to how much is needed to fill a 5 gallon bucket, it does come out pretty expensive. From what it sounds like you want/need I'd recommend Glossworkz. I've got a review up on here somewhere, but it does work wonderfully.
It's a toss up for me between Meg's Shampoo Plus and MS UG. I will probably be sticking with Meg's Shampoo Plus most of the time since I can get it local whereas with the MS UG I can't.
cg glossworks . Has everything your looking for and watermelon smell is amazing . Paint still smells the next day . Really slick and adds a lot of shine .Plus only 1oz per 4-5 gallons
Another vote for MS Ultragloss. I can get it locally so it's my go to maint. soap. I do like Poorboy's Super Slick and Suds especially for it's lubricity but it doesn't do much for the shine. MS UG gives you great lubricity, suds and leaves behind a brilliant shine.
When I talk maintaince shampoo, I want something VERY GENTLE that I'd use to wash a car wearing a coat of SV Insigis... -Dodo Juice BTBM is favorite maintaince shampoo. Why? Low suds, amazing lubricity, very nice gloss, VERY LSP FRIENDLY, and it smells amazing. Super Concentrated. - Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo is another amazing choice. It has more suds then then DJ BTBM, yet as slick, and gentle, and VERY LSP FRIENDLY. Cost efficient. - Lusso auto bathe would be my third choice. Again, very slick, leaves a nice gloss to the finish, smells nice, and LSP FRIENDLY. These shampoos are not the cheapest on the market, but IMO are very well worth the price. I used them on my both black BMWs, and never been dissapointed.
I washed my friends 2005 Black F150 yesterday that has 3 month old 845 on it with Glossworkz. It DEFINITELY left something behind, it looks freshly waxed.
That must be a hell of a shampoo for $2/oz. :shakehead: I hear the Ultima Paint Guard Wash is amazing. It's pretty reasonably priced and apparently super concentrated and very sudsy (if you are into sudsy soaps). It's on my list to try.
