I've decided I'll try the LC CCS pad lineup but before I place an order, I have a few questions.

    1. Is there a noticeable difference between using the gray and blue pads?

The gray pad description says "Composition is firm enough to withstand added pressure during final finishing to remove buffer swirls. It has no cut and will apply thin, even coats of paste and liquid waxes, sealants, and glazes."
The blue pad description states "The blue pad has soft composition for applying glazes, sealants, and liquid waxes. The finessing pad provides full contact with paint surface to minimize the pressure applied by the user."

From what I read, they can both apply sealants and glaze. These are both listed as finishing pads but do either one of them have any cutting ability? If someone could clarify the reason these pads are different that would be great.

    2. Does anyone use the yellow foam pad? What do you think of it? Is it better than the purple foamed wool pad?

I'm thinking I will go with these to start: For 5.5" pads, (3)orange, (3)white, (2)blue. I don't know if I should get some yellow or PFW, or some gray pads. For 4" pads, (2)orange, (2)white, (2)blue. How does this seem? I'd appreciate any suggestions or advice :thumb:

    I HATE..... CCS..... pads.

Seriously the worst detailing product I have ever bought. I always reach for the flat LC pads and the CCS never get touched because I cannot stand the feel of them. It's hard to explain, just buy one pad and see if you like it. Don't be like me and buy 12 pads that you're never gonna use.

It's a good thing I consult this forum. I was about to place an order for nearly 20 of them..

Awhile back I had asked George from Detailed Image, on the G35 Driver forum, about the difference between the LC flat and CCS pads. He said:

I think CCS pads are for the "casual user", who doesnt really want to get the finish really clear, etc. There are I am sure, those who have learned how to use them very well, and probably swear by them.
The Flat pads work best for my business, and they are the only ones I ever purchase. I really like the 5.5" size better than the larger size/s, unless Im doing a big flat, van or an Airplane.
The smaller sizes are way easier to control, clean, and you use less product to get them primed, etc..

Have had great success with the L/C Purple Foamed Wool pads in all 3 sizes; they absolutely cut down fast, and with the right compounds, paint, etc., I have seen them finish down almost good enough to go to the LSP stage.. There is way less wool flying around using these, since they are a combination of foam/wool. They dont have a long life, but then they are not built that way, and the bonus of having them finish down quite nice, makes them worth the price. They are not for beginning buffing with a rotary unless you are going to practice on a panel, door, etc., that someone gave you..
You can burn through paint, plastic, etc., with them if you are not careful and mindful of speed, pressure, moisture, and location.

I have briefly tried L/C Yellow Foam pads, and found them too firm to my liking. They should cut better than any other color foam in the L/C lineup, but not as good as the Purple Foam Wool pad.

Good Luck, hope this helps !

I do not think the intended market was for casual user. It is like many other pads that have all sorts or pattern (dimples. etc) to make it appear as special so 1) to get people to buy different pads, 2) differentiate from your competitor etc. It was a lot of marketing. In reality you probably got a pad with less contact area due to the dimples.

There are a lot of pro's that use them and deliver the results so they are not a total waste. The Hex Logic type pads (sold by CG and Adam;s) do something similar and users swear by them.

I have used them too but also just liked flat because they had more surface area.

Wow, didn't know the opinion of the CCS was so poor, i'll have to try out these other pads you guys recommend. Anybody from Edmonton want to order me a few to save on shipping :p

I've never had a problem with the CCS pads, odd how nobody prefers them.

You can try out the Buff&Shine pads from Autowerkes. They are great as well.

Thanks for the great information everyone.

Yeah I'm up in the air at the moment for buying pads. I can buys some of the buff&shine pads from Ken or I can go for the ubers. The only problem with the ubers is the shipping up north. I'm really not a fan of paying so much for shipping.

However, again with the uber pads there are all these colors that differ by 10 "ppi". The blue and black both apply sealant. Do they have a functional difference that is noticeable? Also, does anyone have experience using the uber yellow?

Uber green is by far the best pad out there IMO. That's the one I use constantly it really does work great.

Is the uber-green similar to a ccs white pad? A good AIO?
