Has anyone ever used the Langka Paint Chip Repair kit? If so, what are your thoughts on it? Any tips/tricks that might help? BTW, my paint is Black, and Non-Metallic. Thanks In Advance, Roger.
I've used it a few years ago on a white Supra. Not impressed. Definitely needed that 8 year old girl they have on their website demo'ing the product to do it on mine! I think I used "The Blob Eliminator" or whatnot. Guy on the phone was like, "no prob, it's cake, blah blah". I bit. I was hoping for a dimestore fix when I should have approached it with more prep both in terms of knowledge and tools. I'd check out some of the other serious "repair" threads here and on A. There's this real good thread of some major OCD guy who had a chip in his Porsche, I think. Came out brilliantly for him. I'd be more inclined to use PaintScratch Touch-Up Paint (rs), Spray Cans, Spray Paint, Paint Pens, Car Paint, Automotive Paint for my next project.
What specifically didn't you like about it? I just got an order with the Langka kit after several good reviews of it over the years but have yet to try it out...
I've had the blob kit for a couple years now and tried it on 2 different cars. On one car it didn't work that well, on my current car it worked great. So one thing is you need to make sure the touch up paint has had enough time to dry before going at it with langka. Langka has a solvent in it and if the touch up isn't fully dried (like a day or 2) it will just wipe off. The other thing that seemed to work better was how thin the touch up paint is (consistency wise). My current car's touch up is one of those paint sticks, where the paint is really thin. Langka works well with this in that it only removed the paint outside the chip spot instead of the entire blob. My old car's touch up paint was the brush-style and much thicker. It was much more difficult to remove the excess paint from those blobs without removing all of the paint. hope that helps...
I tried it with little to no success. I first used the brush that came with the touch up paint and let it dry for several hours. When I went to level it, most of it just came off. I then cleaned the surface and then put a thin coat, let it dry for several hours and reapplied (4 coats) let it dry for a day and the same thing happened. I think the probem is that I used the plastic spreader that came with the kit, but I went with a back and forth motion. Someone said to go in one direction only. Don't know if that will work so I'll try that the next time. Any suggestions. BTW it was a very small rock chip.
