Looking into picking up a rotary. Just wondering what the justifications are for going with the PE14 over the L3403 which I can get for $150 less? Specs all seem about the same, save for the L3403 being lighter weight.

Pros and cons on both? Most people don't seem to talk about the L3403 on here much...

    Sikedsyko -

The Flex 3403 does not have a low rpm start, while the PE14-250 has a slow, low rpm start.

    The Flex 3403 = 1100 - 3700 rpms The Flex PE14-250 = 600 - 2100 rpms

I personally use a Rotary for all correction and polishing, and I do not see the need to use the higher rpms of the Flex 3403VRG, unless I am doing severely damaged paint on an Airplane. My Boat Detailer buddy likes the higher rpm machines to use for grinding down gelcoat.

My Flex PE14-250 gets more use than my Makita9227C now, because its a smaller footprint, and easier to use quickly for me now. I still use the Makita for some things, but find the Flex just easier to handle. I believe the Makita 9227C is less expensive than the Flex PE machine too, so maybe this might be a good machine for your needs ?

I also put an extension on every Rotary I have to allow me to get just the pad around things easier, but you have to mind that spnning shaft now, perhaps tape it up with some thick plastic tape, foam, so it doesnt hit something accidently and hurt it.

Get the PE14-2 or a Festool Shinex. The 3403 will overheat and it gets noisy after light use.

    Kind regards,
