I didn’t get a good luck at this one before she dropped it off. I did a Vette a few weeks ago and I she sent me her mother’s KIA. ED…. I know I tried to tell you the pollen was bad… but this is what kills me!!! Anyway….. I started on the interior, since it was raining. She told me the vehicle was bought used and someone had smoked it in. I said I would see what I could do. I started with a Meg’s quick detail wipe down. It was not that dirty and I love the smells of that stuff!! I wiped everywhere my hand would fit and steam cleaned the carpet. Steamed the vents and used Jax Wax Dash vent Magic. This stuff smells awesome! Did a light wipe down of the headliner. Richy....I did my best to keep a time of some areas. I hope you guys can tell me where I need to speed up my time. There were only a few areas that I really tried to correct. The rest of the vehicle I was just trying to get light swirl removal. Looking good tonya the things I pm'd you should shave a good 2 hours off your process with out comprimising quality - simple process efficiency
Tonya..really really nice job there! The lights came out nicely too. You asked me to look at your times. I did and FWIW, you get what you pay for. Although in general you get faster without sacrificing quality as you do more volume, I go back to "you get what you pay for"...if it's rough and needs a lot of work, so be it. As long as you can estimate (or give a range) and the customer agrees to it..you good to go. It takes a long time to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear!! Looking at your times, a few things do come to mind: taping at 46 minutes seems like a lot. I will often only tape a little bit (black plastic moldings always need it) if I'm using foam pads. Even if I do a whole car, I would think 20 minutes is plenty. You will use less tape as you get more confident with a rotary. This knocks off a bit I guess. the wheels seem in order..I usually spend an hour (sometimes more) to do all 4 wheels, wells and tires. another area where you can save time is after doing the wheels, power wash the exterior, wash the vehicle and bring it inside. If you are going to clay, there is really no need to dry it off prior to claying. This will cut off some minutes, too. the interior is a crap shoot. Nasty stains like you had just take time..that's all there is to it. I currently pw the mats while I wash the car and have the pw out. that way they have time to dry after cleaning and vacuuming them. I usually take 1.5 hrs to wash (wheels included) and do the mats. Try a dedicated bug/tar remover spray like the DG one...it should save you a few minutes there too. The bottom line is that people get what they pay for. You're using the right equipment (ie Rotary is somewhat faster than Da's and for heavy correction, wool is faster than foam) and that helps. I would rather eat a small amount of time on a job ( I ate 2 hours on that Mustang on Friday) than put something out that I knew could have been done better. You don't need to apologize for your quality; it's first rate. Don't make an issue out of the time too much. As long as you're enjoying yourself (I'll recommend the cigars again, LOL) and find the job rewarding (I know you do), then the $$ is really secondary. Hope that helps.
You are a natural Tonya! Keep up the fantastic work. Each detail that you do will get faster and easier.
Great job Tonya. It looks like your business is booming. I am very happy for you. I can see you running around with your stopwatch
Tonya,I don't want to just say "good job" because your work shows you don't compromise "the job" to make a quick buck, you show a lot of patience ,and do the right thing so you can put your own stamp of approval on the work you did. Without a doubt those who appreciate quality work will call and give you more work. Well done.:applause:
Great recovery on the KIA Tonya, i might be calling my friend in Fairborn to see if he needs a detailer for his ride. You are getting better each time i see one of your threads!........:applause:
Very nice detail Tonya.....and yes the rotors where rusty...lol......great job all around....everything looks tip top ... Oh...get a dedicated bug cleaner like the Dg bug cleaner..and stop using a great product like 501 to remove tar..thats a sin...lol.....the Dg bug remover works well..just spray it on before you wash.let it dwell a few minutes...rub it a little and then wash.... Very nice work A++++ Al
