Hello ladies and gents! Like the title says, I just picked up my first steam cleaner. Nothing fancy, but mostly good to great reviews about the product (which doesn't mean much since I will be the judge of it's performance anyways, lol) I figured since I've been doing more interiors recently, it would help me out quite a bit with all the crevices and vents, but also on carpets that have salt stains. I know for the salt stains, the best thing is to remove the larger chunks when dry, then steam them until they dissolve, at which point they become highly alkaline. Then I vacuum/extractor the most I can out and repeat the process a few times if needed. Once done, I spray over with a water/vinegar mixture to neutralize the Alkaline-ness(sp?) Any other suggestions on what I can use this steam cleaner for? Keep in mind it's not an industrial machine, just a small $170 unit from Canadian Tire http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brow...RD~0436256P/Shark+Steam+Blaster.jsp?locale=en
luckily you got it for sale at 50% off. even then my friend, let me tell you this bit of advice, REFUND THE MACHINE AND GET RID OF IT LIKE THE PLAGUE. it's not worth the money even at 50% off and you'll get frustrated using it. i tried it out before and it was no good. the fill measuring cup is like 16 ounces, which is VERY small...the steamer machine volume is also small the thing takes a long time to heat up after each shot of steam, it takes too long to recharge and you waste a lot of time in between shots of steam it doesn't have the capacity to handle the interior tasks if using a steamer the hose is pretty short the 3rd point is the main reason why the steamer is no good.
use it alot, in the house and in a car. If something is wrong with the steamer, bring it back to cantire and refund it within the refund period.
I have the older version of this machine and it died on me last summer. Initially purchased to use around the house but then started using it for interiors. It only lasted a couple cars before deciding not to work any more. As boredstudent said, it does take quite a while to recharge after each shot and the reservoir tank is small. I've read a few good things about the "Vapamore MR-100 PRIMO". It goes for $300 in the States so not too sure how much it would cost to bring it up to Canada. I would have gotten it if I were doing more interiors.
