Well since the iPad 1 is in HK, it was time for me to get an iPad 2. Just placed an order on Apple store and it will hopefully come within 2 weeks so I can use it on the way to Edmonton. 64Gig like my iPad 1 but white this time with a SKY BLUE cover!
I am pretty impressed with the Ipad. I want to get one bad but am just waiting for them to add something like a USB port. Hopefully in the next version.
@pats300zx- knowing how apple is i don't think they'd ever do that but hopefully i'm proven wrong I have an ipad2 and absolutely love the thing
I have a friend that works at Apple and he told me why. He says: Apple want's to shift the data market. Storing online is the "futue" (google documents, dropbox etc). Data sticks and the sorts are obsolete. As you probably know, the ipad, itouch and iphones do not support Flash. It's such an "old technology" that it makes the cpu overheat. Apple is pushing HTML5 with is far better.
I'm so jealous. There will be one in my future as soon as I get a steamer/extractor and paint gauge.Enjoy the new pad.
says ships may 2, delivered by may 9 LOL hopefully it'll be earlier or i'll be camping outside stores to see if bestbuy or futureshop gets any on monday
they're rated at 10hrs and from past experience with the ipad1 it can reach it even while playing video.
Agreed, they are awesome! I did not own an iPad 1, but the cameras on the new one are just decent- enough for making stupid pictures with photobooth and good for facetime! Its a very nice device, battery is excellent and its very quick, now only if a jailbreak came out...
10hours?! That's great, I can see why people like them so much now. IIRC the camera is the same as the ones on the Iphone 4.
Phil, he may consider the Flash "old technology", but as a consumer, I find it a big pain in the ass that my i4 does not play the videos I get in my emails. I was hoping the new ios4.3 would correct that. Apparently not. What is this HTML5? Can you view videos with it? When is it coming out? I heard they pushed the i5 release date back several months, from like June to September.
HTML5 is like the new version of HTML which also allows video playing and stuff. Its like having the flash stuff but natively working. YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. allows you to opt into the youtube html5 test if your browser supports it but yeah the best way to visualize it is this way [Flash] [Browser] [Operating system] to [Browser] [Operating System] Flash also tends to have memory management issues because it has to go through the browser as well especially a problem with browsers which increase memory usage the longer you open it. But yeah in short HTML5 is the future and again playing videos that you get in your email is not a flash issue but simply the implementation of Mail and how iOS handles files. Natively it will only be able to call the iOS player which doesnt not support formats like MKV, OGG, OGM, h264, divx, xvid, etc. thus you cant play it, but if you are able to put that file into a player that has codec compatibility, it will play. However the problem is you cant and the only way to play these files on iOS is to use something like vlcplayer and throw files in via documents sharing in itunes.
Thanks for the explanation. Being a tech-challenged dinosaur compared with some of you guys, my expectation is that when I get an email with an attached video, all I want to do is to click on it and have it play. That's what I want from Apple. Everything else on the phone is great, but the video's a big beef.
Richy, Kyoshiro explained it pretty good. But for your data stick, what if you forget it or it's broken? At least you can get it anywhere if you store it online. Honestly, as a student, I prefer to store stuff online then carry my data stick around. I know there's an app (yes an app for that) that will convert flash to htlm5. I guess it's a good thing that Apple is pushing new technology.
so after the 9pm clicking reserve race, i only got a black one in the end, ah well and yes Opti Seal thanks to TroyScherer's Review lol next time i'll try some Gtechniq G3 until i get a screen protector lolololol
Lucky! My dad signed up to get one from his work to test out...not entirely sure why they need them but it means I get to play around with it
a lot of companies are porting systems over to Ipads/tablets just to make things more modernized and more efficient (have all of them networked to 1 main system cuts a lot of processing) Mercedes were gonna have all salesmen carry an iPad to do quotes/etc to the Business Manager without having to go in and out. Duno how far they got with that.
I just picked up my ipad2 this evening....using it to type this post. I figured I would go big so I got the 64g Verizon 3G version in white. This is my first iPad and I am hooked already...
Let me know what you think of it. I am on the fence to get one but can't decide if I should wait for the Ipad 3 to come out.
