Just got my Metro Vac N Blo

So I finally made it up to UPS to get my box with my Metro Vac that I purchased from a member of another forum I belong to. My first impression seeing the box was about how small this thing really is.

You don't realize how small 17" is in length until you see the small box it comes in compared to some of the orders I have received from DD. I almost thought the guy didn't send me the right item or we got our communication crossed because the package was also very light. So after getting back to the house I removed all the contents, being careful to not get packing peanuts everywhere.

I need to take some pictures next to my Ridgid shop vac for a size comparison, talk about portable. Another great find with this is that I can use all my tools that I got with my Ridgid detailers pack from Home Depot. I really wish I could use the hose, but what can ya do! I'm really looking forward to using the claw tool with this to see how it compares to my Ridgid setup.

So after I got it all out of the package I had to see what all the fuss is about with the 100" of water lift for this vacuum. I have to say I was a little let down by what I felt. I cannot tell if it really is that much stronger than my Ridgid at this point. I will have to use them both on the next few details to see if I notice any suction difference. My carpets weren't that dirty so it was hard to tell how well it performed. I can comment with certainty that it is MUCH quieter then my Ridgid, that was a pleasant surprise.

I will comment on this thread as I use it and will also take a few pics.

Here is the picture that I wanted to provide to you next to my Ridgid.

I don't know if you can tell at all from the picture but I made a gasket out of generic window gasket material to go around the lid of the machine to seal it up and keep it tight once it was on the base. I think it really helped the overall performance of the Ridgid to stop any possible air leaks from that surface where it lays on the base. I don't understand why there is no gasket there from the factory but I feel that its much needed. I might try and do the same thing to the Metro because the lid is a little sloppy on the vacuum port side. Give it a try with your vacuum if you don't have any type of gasket, the material was only 6 dollars.

 

The Metro vac n blo kicks a$$. I love mine. Just one thing I've noticed with it is I had to get another 6' hose for it and use it only for the blower. When I had just one hose I tried the blower once and started shooting dust all over..

 

I don't know how much I will be using it for the blower function but I will keep that in mind. I really want another hose because I fell in love having the long hose from my Ridgid car kit.

Do you have the turbo brush attachment? I really like it with our Dyson and I would use it from time to time with the Ridgid, but this hose end is just ever so small to allow it to work.

 

I have the turbo brush for my vacnblow and it works well. Dont underestamate the blower function of this unit, i did not untilize it at first and now i use it every time as it works that well.

I love my master blaster. The blower function is fantastic to blow out water from the door jams and just about anywhere h20 can hide ...... I have never tried the vac n blo but the comany that makes them knows what they are doing.

 

I used the vacuum again today. I really like how small it is and how quiet it is. Walking around to the passengers side I could barely hear it. Suction is really nice on this unit, need a dirtier car so I can compare it to the Ridgid I had, today was just a quick vac of the back seat areas.

 

Agree it's so nice how quiet it is. I was surprised when I first got mine to see how powerful it was.

 

Good info in here...makes me want one!

 

I'm also looking forward to using it to help dry spots on carpet if I do spot cleaning. It does provide a warm air on the output side. Its a pretty strong blower too bc it keeps wanting to blow off the blower attachment that forces the air through a smaller cavity.

You had made a comment about the suction. Any comparison to the Ridgid?

 

I didn't remember to test it like Richy said he did his by sticking it on his arm with no attachment. I will try my best to evaluate it like that this weekend.

Well, it sounds like it is dramatically difference or you would notice it.

 

If you're looking for a dirtier car stop by my place sometime, seems like everything I detail is a mess

So today I made up a temporary gasket to go under the lid. It wasn't fitting as tight as I would have liked it to fit and I knew there had to be air leaks lowering the overall performance of the little beast. With the gasket tape I fit it around the inner lip and slapped it back on the body. I think it made quite a difference! I would recommend anyone with any kind of vacuum to make sure it seals well against the body and lid.

 

What's the verdict.

 

Its a keeper! I however decided to sell the Fein Turbo II vacuum that I purchased and will be using the Ridgid for wet suction applications.
