Well it was time to redo the LSP on my Mustang. I've had the DG beta Enviro Shield on there since February. I have really been liking the Blackfire Wet Diamond AFPP and just received a pot of Blackfire Midnight Sun Wax so I figured might as well do a little Fire and Ice combo on the Stang. Well here's a real quick overview of what I did: Tires/Wheels/Wells got my what I always use. Tires and wells got MS Super Green Stuff and wheels got Autoglym Custom Wheel Cleaner. After cleaning wheels were treated with Zaino Clear Seal and tires dressed with a first coat of Megs Hyper Dressing @ 3:1 and then dressed with Tropi Care Tire Dressing. Wells got Megs All Season Dressing. Washed with my foam cannon with a mixture of 2 oz of MS Super Foam and an ounce of MS Power Prep. Used 2 bucket method with Poorboys Super Slick and Suds. After washing clayed with BH Soft Clay. Interior was vacuumed and then cleaned with MS Leather and Plastic Cleaner. Everything was then protected with Jeffs Werkstat Satin Prot. All glass cleaned with Autoglym Fast Glass and MS Blue Huck Glass towels. Windshield was treated with Zaino Clear Seal. Door jambs cleaned and protected with Fukken Wax. Paint was cleaned with Jeffs Werkstat Prime Acrylic with the Makita and a Scholl Concepts orange polishing pad. After that I applied a coat of Black Fire Wet Diamond AFPP and buffed it off. After a few hours I applied a coat of Blackfire Midnight Sun wax. It buffed on and off really easy. The next day I went back and put another coat of Midnight Sun on and buffed it off. After that I did a wipedown with Blackfire Spray Sealant. I will say that the Fire and Ice combo gives a really nice look. Not traditional nuba look as the car looks extremely wet. I really like that look and it looks really sweet on the dark blue. Well here are the after pics as I didn't see a need for befores and I didn't take any interior pics either but here's what I have:
Great finish!... I notice how tidy you keep your products on the shelves in your garage too, says a lot about your work as a professional.
Thanks Jordan Much appreciated. I can't stand not having my detailing stuff in order. I like knowing exactly where everything is and it's all in its place. It actually makes detailing quicker when I don't have to go looking for anything. Thanks and man I really hope to get the transplant done in 2010. Man that is my dream to bring it up there and have Herman drop that stroked 302 in there!
Just let me know when you are ready and when can get it set up. He just did this turbo car that was insane. Matter of fact I cleaned up a fox body with a stroked 302 and a T-trim on it today, pretty basic car really and made 550 at the wheels. You can have yourself a nice little 10 sec. car that you can putt around in without any hassle.
Thanks Roger I love the fox body too. I've always had a thing for them since they came out when I was getting close to getting my license. I couldnt' afford one then so I guess that's why I bought one now. Now that's what I'm talking about!!!
That would be nice , but a Vortech is alot simplier to do, plus I probably have enough stuff laying around to build a little engine for JL. How about something with about 252 duration and alittle of .800 lift JL. I have about three of those still laying around from Cam Motion they made me.
That looks SO clean JL, very nice work! Do you think you'll swap out the front lenses? Would really tidy up the entire looks since they look a bit yellow. PS: what is FUKKEN WAX???
Looks great. You're right - it looks extremely wet. I like it! Tell me more about Satin Prot - how does it compare to Vinylex in terms of looks? My guess is that Prot isn't super glossy, as I know that's not really your style. (Not that JL particularly enjoys interior work anyway... :lol
Thanks Sal. Hey that's great Dana why don't you go ahead and put that together for me and let me know when it's ready, lol! Glad to know I have someone to ask when doing this. Yeah Piet I want to change out the lenses at some point just haven't gotten around to it. Fukken Wax is a lot like CGs One rinseless product. Its sort of a QD/rinseless cleaner and wax in one product and its in an aerosol. I get great results with it on door jambs and on chrome its phenomenal. Thanks Ken no thanks to you more of my money goes to Autowerkes!!! LOL!
You nailed it Karl. Its not super glossy just a clean new matte look. I really like it. This is the first of my cars that I've used it on so I'll get to see how it holds up and if it repels dust very well.
No problem, but I don't think you are going to like the cam I suggested above. Besides not having brakes do to the lack of vacuum and needing atleast 16:1 compression for starters. I should be able to find something out of the 30 custom grinds I have laying around.
Looks great JL!!! I'd stick with a 302. Probably the most modifiable engine on the planet. They'll take a beating. I just got some AFPP last week. Looking forward to giving it a try.
Hey JL - a local guy just bought a Factory Five Cobra replica with a great racing pedigree. He's making noises about getting rid of the motor that's in it, and replacing it with something stronger. Want me to see if he's still going down that path, and if so, how much he wants for the existing motor? IIRC, it's only got about 3 hours on it. NASA's Factory Five Cup doesn't allow super wild motor builds, so it should be pretty streetable.
