This car was straight out of the body shop. It had only had the very bottom ground effect piece on the driver side and the front bumper replaced. Belongs to a lady friend of my father-in-law and he has been wanting to get it detailed for her for a while. She stays on the go in this thing what seems like 24/7. Well she was at the beach with another car so he took this opportunity to have me detail it. I had recently purchased some Jeffs Werkstat products from Autowerkes Exclusive (Ken - 911fanagic) and have used them a few times but had yet to take pics so I could do a post. I really like working with the JW stuff a lot! Well this got the full JW treatment. Well here's what I did: Tires/Wheels/Wells: The wheel faces got Autoglym Custom Wheel Cleaner and the barrels got Megs Wheel Brightner. A variety of brushes were used including a Black Magic wheel brush bent to 90 degrees for getting behind the spokes, HD brushes for the tires and wheel wells, lug nut brush, and EZ Detail brush as well as my foam finger pocket. The Autoglym Custom Wheel Cleaner is really nice. It foams up like crazy and you all know that I'm somewhat of a foam whore so this was right up my alley. Not only does it foam up but the more you agitate it the better it foams. It cleans well and is safe for all wheels. I liked the stuff so much that when I called Ken back to place another order I put 2 gallons of this stuff on my list. I have it on the way and can't wait to get it. I sold my P21s Wheel Gel and my CGs Sticky Gel and have replaced them with the Autoglym. For the tires and wells they got the ol' standby Majestic Solutions Super Green Stuff at 3:1 in a Solo 418 handheld pressurized sprayer, and some of the brushes I got from Home Depot. The tires were first dressed with Megs Hyper Dressing @ 3:1 with a MSs tire applicator. I then dressed them with the same method with a TW tire applicator and my Tropi-Care tire dressing. As I've said before I don't use any other tire dressing anymore. Everything else that I had is just inferior in looks from what I get with the Tropi-Care. I'll tell you the stuff is very durable as well. Wells were dressed with my combo of MS Mr. Natural/Megs ASD. I then coated the wheels with MS Enviro Shield. Engine: I gave the engine a quick rinse with the CR Spotless, and sprayed it down with MS SGS. There was a lot of dirt and dust in just about every crevice there was so I agitated it and re-rinsed. I dried most of the water with a leaf blower and then sprayed the engine bay down with Megs HD @ 3:1 in a Solo 418 handheld sprayer. I cranked the engine and let it run for about 20 minutes and it looked brand new. There is so much plastic under the hood of the Lexus that it was too easy to clean up. Exhaust: The exhaust got Megs WB and #0000 Steel wool while washing the wheels and then later polished with Autosol and buffed off with an Obessesive Detail MF. Wash: I really didn't think there was any LSP to speak of but to be sure I went with an LSP stripping formula in the foam cannon of 2 oz of Tropi Care Citrus Wash ver. 4 the Champion Version, and 1 oz of MSs Power Prep. As good as this combo cleans I knew nothing was going to be left behind. Put that in my foam cannon with the Karcher. This version 4 was inspired by our very own Dust2Glory thus the Champion Version they call it. I think this is the best version of all that I tried and it cleans extremely well and foams better than the other 3 versions. I used the two bucket method with 2 oz of Tropi Care Premium Wash in my Griots bucket with grit guard and rinse bucket with grit guard. I washed the car with a grout sponge. The bugs got CGs Strong Wash @ 4:1 in a Solo 418 handheld pressurized sprayer, and a Majestic Solutions bug sponge. The entire wash including wheels and engine were done with the CR Spotless System. The car was then dried by Mother Nature and the hot NC sun. Its so nice to know the car can dry in the sun and not leave a single water spot behind! Clay: Well my mainstay for clay has become and always will be the Bilt Hamber and this detail was going to be no different. This is the best clay I have ever used and the only one I use now. Of course as always the lube was water from the CR system. Glass: Glass inside and out got Autoglym Fast Glass. I used a MS blue huck window towel to apply and a Walmart WW to buff off. The outside of the glass was treated with MS ES. Interior: The interior was completely dusted down with the Swissvax look alike brush from Micheals and was vacuumed with the Shop Vac. Then everything was cleaned with Majestic Solutions Leather and Plastic Cleaner diluted at 1:1 with about an ounce of MSs Lemon deodorizer put in with it. I used the Autoglym Hi-Tech Cleaning pad and it did a great job. It deep cleaned all the textured plastic, leather and rubber sills better than any MF that I have ever used. This is one of those products you kind of get just to push yourself over the $150 mark to get free shipping and after using it think "man I'm glad I bought this and I'll never be without it again." I knocked out several stains in the carpet with Majestic Solutions Extraction Plus @ 10:1 and a damp white MF. I then vacuumed everything with my Shop Vac. I dressed all the vinyl and plastic with Jeffs Werkstat Satin Protectant. This is my kind of protectant in that it leaves behind a nice clean look. The leather was conditioned with Wolfgang Leather Conditioner. The door jambs were cleaned and protected with Fukken Wax and a CGs El Gordo MF. Paint: Sticking with my JW theme here I went with Prime Acrylic as a paint cleaner. As well as DG 501 cleans damn if Prime Acrylic didn't do quite a bang up job. I wasn't expecting quite the cleaning power that it showed and was very happy to have another paint cleaner that I know I can turn to. This coupled with my LSP of choice left me very impressed. I decided to use my Cyclo with a couple of white LC CCS 4" pads. I removed it with some CGs 530XL MFs. LSP: Well I had heard all the talk of how good JW Acrylic Jett Trigger was as an LSP and even from guys I respect like krshultz and Ken but I needed to see it for myself. Well I did 2 applications at 30 minutes apart and I am always stunned at how good it looks. It is brain dead easy to use and apply and gives the look of any high end sealant. I had a good feeling about this LSP because of recommendations from Ken and Karl so I got 2 bottles when I ordered from Ken and I'm glad I did. Well the car looked so good that the owner was ecstatic. She had borrowed a car for the beach because she wanted a convertible and the rental place didn't have any. Her friend loaned his to her and when she got her car back from me she returned his and asked how much she owed him for the weeks use. He told her "just have your guy do that to my car and I'll be thrilled and we'll call it even!" Needless to say I had his car in my driveway this weekend!:applause2: Here are the before and afters:
This title needs a warning PUT ON SUNGLASSES BEFORE OPENING THIS THREAD that white is bright. As always JL awesome job
nice one, good job!!!! It looks like the workload of detailing the engine bay of a lexus is minimal compare to other car!!!
Thanks bro, much appreciated. Thanks man the stuff just works simple as that. No fancy labeling or marketing, it just does a damn good job cleaning a car. I really think you'll like the stuff and the owners are really nice and very knowlegeable about the chemistry involved in making detailing products. Thanks Sal! Appreciate it Carlos and I agree it was a fine looking automobile. The first Lexus I've done and it was actually quite easy to work with as the panels are so designed to be very conducive to cleaning. Thanks Denzil. Hey Piet, what no comment about the tires/wheels???? Man you let me down, LOL. That Autoglym Hi-Tech pad is the shizz and one of the best tools for the interior. Thanks Dana, the JW stuff is very very good and makes white look great! My brother from another mother, thanks so much. Lets just hope she keeps bringing it back but as much as she drives making an appointment is hard. Thanks bro! Oh cleaning that engine bay was almost too easy. Felt like I was cheating somehow.
Dude. My EYES!!!! :yikes: Seriously, it's as white as white can be. What a gorgeous color. It looks great, as always. Small wonder the guy who loaned her the convertible wants to get on your list! AJT looks great on everything, but it looks sensational on white. Durable too.
Thanks Karl. I have been really impressed with AJT ever since seeing you use it on that white BMW you did. Glad you and Ken turned me onto such a great product. Thanks bro. Jordan I must agree with you and really glad I bought some of the AJT. What I'm really glad of is that I bought 2 bottles from Ken!! Thanks Pirex!
Hey JL I'm glad you like the wash... I've got literally gallons of the stuff, and I mix mine with a little Powermax3 and you can not beat that combo for anything!!
