I have searched around this place and read a lot about people jeweling the polish. But for the life of me I can't grasp a definition. Can someone give me a hand? What is jeweling?

Jeweling is basically the last step of polishing. Using a finishing polish like PO85rd or Ultrafina in conjunction with a pad that has no mechanical action, typically blue or black you are just burnishing(or jeweling) the paint to a high gloss finish. There is no correction taking place at this point. The finishing polishes have a long play time so you can just keep working the paint. Its well worth the effort. Hope this helps.

I dug up a couple of pics for you. The first one was after a round of Menz SIP on green and orange CCS pads. Truck looked great and could have gone straight to LSP. The second pic was after around of Menz 85rd on black CCS. You can see, even in the pics, the difference in the gloss on the paint. Well worth the extra few hours it takes.:thumb:

It's really hard to tell from those pictures but I'm sure it's much better looking if I were there myself.

Pictures really don't do anyone's work any justice!

 like 911 said it's always better to go that little extra to get that little extra from the vehicle's finish, it truly does make a difference going that little extra. It's such details that live up to the word "detailing". Oh and yes it's hard to capture the crisp finish of the "jeweling" process but if your standing right in front of of the vehicle you'll notice the difference.

    I like to use 600 to 1250 then 1100, 1000, 850, 700

Most of the time I can work it for six minutes no problems with blue or red CCS or white edge

I typically spread product at 900-1000rpm and then increase to 1200-1500rpm until it goes clear and then a few passes at 1000rpm.

What product do you recommend for this step? Can this be done with a PC?

The only product I have used for this is Menz PO85rd and I love it. Some guys have said that 3M Ultrafina also works well. I'm hopefully going to get some in the near future and try it.

You can use a black CCS which has a tiny bit of cut to it or a blue pad which has no cut at all.

I just tried this "jeweling" step with a black waffle pad, and a mixture of 1Z proline High gloss polish and final finish. For some reason, it left faint holograms. I switched to a blue 3m waffle pad, same polish combo, and all was good when I was done.

I've never used the 1Z polishes, but as stated, the black pad has a bit of cut to it whereas the blue has none when discussing LC pads, I'm not sure about the waffle pads.
