Is there an extra disclaimer we're not seeing?

With the recent event of things being tabu or 'off topic' in the off-topic area I can't help but wonder if there's an unsaid disclaimer for this particular sub-forum. Usually such areas have quite a bit more flexibility than a sub forum based on a particular topic such as Exterior detailing products, or whatever it may be.

As you can see by the attached picture "Chat about anything and everything" which encompasses .. well... everything. Why does it seem some things are not under the umbrella of everything?

Don't get me wrong, I love DB. Some other forums have much more nihilistic moderation practices and I'm glad to call myself a member of DB and to chat with some of these wonderfully skilled folk on a regular basis.

 

Okay Mindflux, you obviously have something on your chest, get it over with. What is bothering you?

Now, this is a warning to all other Detailing Bliss members, if you choose to share your opinion here please make sure it's constructive and be careful what you post because I've had enough BS here lately!!! My patience is running thin, I'm not one to react and if I do I usually sleep on things before I act, but enough is enough.

This needs to be settled with and done, I really, really hate drama!!!!

So if you have to say something say it now and get it over with and move on!!!

What is the problem here, why so much drama all of a sudden???

 

I'm not sure. Maybe its just a bad time for people. The drama is ridiculous. I don't even feel like sharing pics or reviews anymore.

Obviously something happened before I ever got here and quite frankly now it's scaring the $*** out of me.

And why would that be? Because I was wanting to make an announcement, but I figure I either keep it too my self or I move on to a place where I can make it without fear of getting banned closed or corrected.

S*** I've been working on this now for months and I come up with a product today and this all starts.

Exactly!!! So far drama can either bring the best of a forum or simply ruin it, I've done my best to keep the drama to a minimum here at Detailing Bliss. For the most part drama has come and gone but it seems that there are a few members that just love drama (now I'm saying this in general not directed to anyone in particular), if members want drama please go to other sites because I want no part of it!

Drama is like a wound, if you don't deal with it and get it over with it just keeps lingering like an infected wound. If you clean it up properly and take care of it from the get go the recovery is much faster and best of all life goes on. When drama lingers, it's extremely disruptive to an environment that I and many other members have work so hard to create here at Detailing Bliss.

If members are in deed proud to be a Detailing Bliss member then act like it and quit all the BS!!!

 

Nothing truly. I posted this more or less because I didn't get to respond to the thread below about closing my original Mixology thread.

This user eloquently voiced his opinion which many members shared. If you go re-read the thread I'm sure you'll find that 95% of the responders enjoyed the satire and understood the calamity of the original thread that snowballed into a bickering match between A.R and myself.

 

If indeed nothing was bothering you we wouldn't be having this thread now would be.

I repeat, speak up now or move on and be done with, I'm growing tired of this rambling on and on :bla2: :bla2: speak up, express your frustration or what ever issues you have with me or any other member and be done with, but note that what ever you express there will be a reaction..I say this not for my self but the person you may or may not have an issue with.

 

We wouldn't have this thread if you had let the off topic discussion in question remain open. It was in the right subforum, it wasn't inflammatory and he was stating his opinion on the matter. If you are trying to remain neutral and allow people to express their problems or grievances (which you have now since asked me to do) you have to remain objective which by appearances sake by instantaneously locking a thread that could potentially bring up some bad points about membership here shows there isn't much of it at the present time.

So let me get this straight Mindflux, you would like for me to let everyone get bent out of shape with what will be shared/expressed and mean wile I'm receiving PM's about certain threads and what not. You need to remember Mindflux, I'm the owner of this forum and as such I'm responsible to what happens here at Detailing Bliss, like I said. I deal with things as I see best, if you have a problem with how go about dealing with things here at Detailing Bliss just sending me a PM and dealing it man to man, not trying to publicly make a big deal of nothing.

I've always encourage members to contact me if they have a problem with how I do things, in fact I welcome feed back. Detailing Bliss can only improve if constructive criticism is shared/expressed. So far I've seen no constructive criticism due to the way it has been expressed. Here is my way of thinking, again I express this is my mentality. If I have a problem with a member I go directly to that member and deal with it, I don't go around starting threads and getting people on my side to back me up or back me up on my train of thought. Again that's just me though.

So if you want Detailing Bliss to be a boxing match, I only have one question, how will this benefit Detailing Bliss and it's community? How is a pissing match constructive to the growth and making other members feel welcome here?

 

I just gave you some of the most simple yet true advice anyone can give another forum administrator. REMAIN OBJECTIVE! This is the off topic area, you created it for the express purposes of posting things that are not on the topic of any of the other subforums, which can include a members displeasure in the forum's activities (as the OP in the other thread has done). He didn't post it in Show and Shine, he didn't post it in the forum regarding sealants and glazes, he posted it in the off topic forum airing out his grievances.

No, I don't want it to be a boxing match. I want it to be a place where giving an eloquently written opinion about current undergoings on the forum are heard, not locked and pushed to the side. Did anyone report the thread? I bet they didn't even have a chance to if they wanted. I don't know the OP of that thread from anyone else on here so it's not like we're the chummiest of chums and he posted it to kick the dust into the air; he did it because he feels there needs to be a more objective evaluation of 'troublesome' threads. You didn't give anyone else a chance to say 'Yea' or 'Nay' on the matter that they feel the same way or not and if someone other than MYSELF were to post this current topic I'm not so sure that you'd be questioning that users intentions.

 

Mindflux the reason I closed the thread was because yes the person expressed his opinion there is nothing wrong with that, what I had a problem is why couldn't it have been sent to me directly. Why do members insist on making things a big deal! Why do certain members, including your self feel so compelled to blow things out of proportion!

If you have not noticed, there are no administrators, there are only DB Representatives. I don't like the word 'administrator' as it implies a certain level of authority, I want Detailing Bliss to be a nuetral place..yet your saying that by me dealing with drama I'm not being nuetral, i'm not letting members have there say....well if that was so why would I waist my time with this thread..why wouldn't I just close it and be done with and go on with my evening? Why would not express to contact me with any issues?

To me it seems you are the one that wants the drama, if you want drama have at it but NOT AT DETAILING BLISS!!

Let me share something with you and maybe you can understand this....lets pretend you are the owner of Detailing Bliss, lets pretend you are the one spending your hard earned money on a forum that you have created for pure fun, you spend hours trying to help members by creating videos, trying to post helpful threads...you do it all simply to help others, nothing but for pure fun..and I come along and start posting threads, like you have done what would you have done? How would you have dealt with such threads and my behavior?

 

I notice a carefully worded title that's almost akin to 'administrator'. If you want to run a Co-Op here where every member has an equal stake; then we should all have moderatorship rights.

There's enough drama on other forums to not continue it here. I'm trying to have an open minded conversation about the current affairs here.

I've seen a lot more than what I see now, and I will say this. POWER corrupts. You have power, you better use it wisely and from what I'm seeing in this thread it doesn't look good.

 

I ran a 2 line BBS (big for it's day for a teen) in Littleton Colorado for half a decade. Spare me your 'I was there before you were' speech, because I've given it myself in the past so I'm quite familiar with it.

I don't think Nica is abusing his power, I think he's not using it in an objective state of mind sometimes. We all have our lapses in judgement.

Okay, so now you feel I'm power hungry, fair enough...please share with me what you have seen that gives this message?

If I have conducted my self in a power hungry method, I too need to be put in my place...I can't see my own faults, I need to be made a ware of them...however, I am human and I will react, but please share...might as well get it out and in the open now.

If anyone else shares the same opinion please bring it forward, let me know by all means be honest here..lets get this over with and deal with it...if it's me that's at fault I will take what ever is shared here and sleep on it. If it's me acting up, perhaps I need to sit back and reflect on a few things.

 

Fluxy comes off a little abrasive sometimes and I'll testify that it's hard to get him to make his point, but left alone his problems seem to work themselves out pretty quick. He just likes to have his say. I had words with him on a couple of occasions, but we worked it out in PMs. I think this airing of dirty laundry is tacky and not what DB is about. Carlos, I know you didn't ask me for my opinion, but I would tell everyone to stick to the subject of the threads or you'll timeout them for these rants. I agree to save the drama for your mama. I mean geez: I read my wife some of the stuff and she laughs and says: "It's just wax, what's the big deal?" She's on a barrel racing forum with mostly women and says we have more drama on the detailing forums, hehe.

 

Atleast you used a term of endearment when referring to me. It shows we've resolved amicable differences on some level.:worship2: P.S how do you stick to the subject of off topic threads; it goes against the whole ideal of the subforum.
