Is a wet vac good enough for cleaning carpets?

    Hey guys,

I picked up this vacuum on sale for less than half this price. It's a GREAT overall car cleaning vacuum. It comes with a car cleaning accessory kit which is a long hose, upholstery brush, and other things I can use to try and concourse carpets.

My question is does this vacuum have what it takes to clean and suckup liquid from carpets and upholstery? For leather it's not such a problem because there is a blower attachment (not that I'd be using it) and I have a ton of microfibre.

Any idea as to if this is good enough?

It really depends on the specs of the vac...

I survived quite awhile without an extractor and managed just fine.. BUT once you upgrade to an extractor you will ask yourself how you survived without it and what took you so long to get one

I have a Ridgid wet/dry vac and it has 3.5HP, plenty of power!!!

You can get a 5HP model for about $40-$50...

Yup, I agree with all that the members here are saying. A wet/dry vac will jut fine but when you upgrade to an extractor you'll love the change :thumb:.

Im thinking about taking the plunge for a Mytee Lite 2, the scrubbing by hand and dry vac isnt gonna work for me much longer.

Im trying to find a good deal on one, and the mytee lite 2 is a fairly small unit correct?

Well yes but it all depends on what you mean by small. If you compare the Mytee Lite 2 (aka HP-60) with the HP-100 yes it's smaller but to be honest the HP-60 is not as small as a house hold vacuum....so if your thinking it's as small as a shop vac or a regular house hold vacuum well it's not that small.

I honestly wouldn't say that my Mytee is small, but if you compare it to the other Mytee models yes it is on the small size....I'm just not sure what your comparing it too that's all...hope this helps :peace:

It seems that we made a good choice by going with an extractor right off the bat. The wife has a fancy house style steam cleaner that she did the house with about 3 weeks ago. Thought she did a wonderful job. Last week the extractor showed up... a Ninja 150 also bought a carpet wand for residential and commercial carpets. Over a 2 day period she did the house again and it's amazing how much more the extractor picked up. The water from the recovery tank was dirtier than from her personal steam cleaner. Very impressed to say the least.

I was comparing it to the bigger Mytee units, I just checked the dimensions and its fine size wise. Also isnt the HP-60 a 3 stage vaccum unit thats a bit more water lift than the Mytee Lite 2?

Yes, I beleave you are correct. I have the HP-60 and I always confuse it with the Mytee Lite 2, I keep thinking they are the same units :crasy: sorry that's my bad

But yes the size it is smaller :thumb:

If you put Carlos's mytee beside mine, it'll look small. If you have it sitting by itself, or by house hold vac system it will look QUITE large! It's well worth it either way though, imo taking the pluge now saves you from having to do it later :p

I've been looking at the 5hp Ridgid vac for quite some time now. I currently have a small shop vac. I just want something more powerful. Can the Ridgid be used as a blower?

yes, it can be used as a blower. Make sure to have the filter in otherwise you'll blow rocks and other things that are near the little suction area.
