hi im looking to buy the ironX in the spray bottle, I just have a few questions about the product

1.should i clay b4 the use of ironX?
    2. should I scrub after it turns red/purple or just rinse it off?
    3.will it strip the LSP?

    thanks

    1. No, use IronX before claying. The more contaminents removed before claying the better! Less chance of marring the finish.

    2. I personally let it dwell for a few minutes while the purple stuff runs down the panels (just dont let it dry in the sun), then give it a really light wipedown with a wet bug sponge. Then pressure wash everything off. It just makes me feel like I'm going the extra mile to make sure that all the particles are knocked loose. I know most users just spray, let dwell, then rinse, with no scrub.

    3. Dunno. Never looked into it. Most of the time if Ironx is used/or needed, the vehicle will most likely be polished/waxed right after the wash process anyways. I wouldnt use Ironx during my weekly wash, just as a maintenance step prior to waxing every few months, or before a detail. I would imagine that that it will strip an lsp, or at least "dig" through it to pull out any metal deposits.

Ironx is a great product! Theres a ton of threads on it now, and I personally need to browse around to see how other people are using the product. I've experimented a few ways now, and my method seems to work great for me, thats all that matters.
The only problem with it..... the smell!

Just a thought, shouldn't you strip the lsp before using IronX anyways? I read somewhere that it doesn't strip lsp, it just breaks down iron.

That's a whole new debate: stripping lsp's in general. Some people do it, some don't.
Personally, I do. The first steps of my wash process include pretty strong degreasers/ tar removers.
The less protection covering the paint, the better a job the Ironx can do. I find it easier to do a paint correction on an lsp stripped car anyways.. It allows the polishes to directly contact the paint itself, not just float above it on top of wax.

When I am going to clay, I will spray on IronX and let it sit a little. Once I see the purple running down, I will foam the panel and clay the panel. Once that is done I rinse. Has been working great for me.

Isn't there a chance you could marr the finish if you scrub once it turns color? I would just rinse it off then clay afterwards if necessary.

if you use clay first you wont use as much product but if you do clay use ironx after it as well couse clay can only remove whats on surface and not whats already started to corrode clear. thats where iron x comes in.

you can use soft pad (like red pad type) to spread it around. new ironx is more thick so its more like soap, but not as thick as ironx soap gel.

not sure if it strips lsp. it is PH balanced though

Not sure, I haven't had that as an issue though. I have used that method on different cars and trucks, been ok so far

During the prep process I would use Iron Cut prior to Claying I would rather use more product than to mar up the paint by using the clay but that's just me.

first you wash the car so you wouldnt mar it once it starts to DISOLVE the iron, it doesnt just brake bond from surface so you not gona get iron particle on your mit or sponge.
thats kinda what you have to do with ironx soap gel

    Bump.

How much of a bottle are you guys using? Do you dilute with water?

Depends on the area and severity of the contamination and how much application is needed(or multiple applications. Manufacturer used to say 100ml per car but in truly severe cases you can easily go through a 500ml bottle. I would say half to a quarter 500ml bottle or in that range, this is assuming the chemical is agitated and then recoated after a rinse(if only lightly) to make sure all contamination is gone.

You guys all should realize that IronX and IronCut have zero effect on non Ferrous(Iron) but still metallic contamination eventhough slightly similar reduction potentials. This means that while the iron is gone, if there is any other non ferrous metallic contamination, it will still be there until you clay - so if this is embedded, clay is shearing and the chemical is nearly inert on it.

    Just a FYI.

Do no dilute the product at all, just spray it on and wait to see the magic!
