    Nanolex DB Certified Manufacturer

    Hi everyone!

First of all I'd like to thank Phil to give me the chance to be a part of this great forum!

Some of you might have already heard (or even used?) some of our products that have been around for more than 5 years now.

So what's Nanolex all about? What we try to do every day is to provide the most durable, easy to use and best performing coatings for your car!

Our approach regarding car care is based on the so called "Sol-Gel" chemistry, this means we solve very small, nano-scaled raw materials like SiO2 in solvents to achieve a very strong hydrophobic and anti-stick effect. Once you apply the solution to the surface the solvents diminish and the raw materials set on the surface where they interlace to a network and basically “pixel” the surface. The bonding to the surface is covalent (=permanent).

Only mechanical abrasion and very few chemicals (that are hardly every used) can remove our coatings – “normal” coatings can be removed with chemicals.

Our portfolio contains solutions for glass / paint & wheels / as well as dedicated cleaners.

I'd like to introduce you to the individual products from time to time in separate threads - if you have any requests please let me know what interests you most and I'll start right away!

Now enough with the writing, I know pictures tell much more than words.

Here are a few examples of what we do, starting with a campaign video that was shot at the Nürburgring last year, where we sponsored a racing team throughout the VLN endurance racing season:

You can find more videos on Youtube ->

It would be very nice if you'd all take the time to check it out and maybe leave some feedback :)

A few words regarding the distribution in the US - we are all set but still in the early phase - you can check out for more information on the US distribution network, the products will shortly be availble OFFICIALLY.

If there are any questions you can always ask through the forum, write me an email or give me a call!

Any questions & comments are always MUCH appreciated!

    Cheers, Florian

The way I understand Nano technology, once the product is applied is needs to recharged/cleaned with Nano soaps and detail sprays? So after applying a Nano coating, all washing solutions cannot be used anymore and a Nano specific soap has to used to do normal washes. Is this the same with Nanolex? Doing normal washes with ONR actually will break the interlacing down and begin to remove the shine and slickness of the finish? I love the look of Nano finishes but all products draw me away from putting the coatings on because then I has to replace all my normal washing and daily detailing products.

I have had Wolfs on my car for almost 6 months and it's still doing well. I have washed it with a myriad of shampoos - some with gloss enhances and some without. It hasn't affected the Wolfs at all.

Which should otherwise tell you objectively that the "nano" marketing is not the ultramegasuper durable stuff that every manufacturer makes it out to be. There is a reason opticoat is the only tried, tested, true coating. The others are truly just super sealants....

It has. I believe Jeese has even said that BR should be washed with Wolf's Soap to keep the the coating onboard. Nano products have to have Nano products only on them, my understanding of molecular breakdown of the particle.

Regardless of what you understand, after six months of washing with regular soap, it is still performing well. It beads well and sheets water quite aggressively. I don't know what else you want it to do.

IIRC it is recommended that Wolf's BW use the Nano soap to retain its lotus effect (beading properties) as the pores can clog up with other soaps.

Maybe this should be a separate thread. It is sort of a curious "Welcome to DB" that we're extending to Nanolex and Florian. On the other hand perhaps it useful to to the various manufacturers of "nano" products to see just how murky the marketing/end user environment has become. My personal perception is that either the manufacturers don't fully understand how these products behave, at least in real world applications where there are an enormous number of uncontrolled variables, and/or the products aren't being very well explained. Certainly reported durability (not necessarily for Nanolex which I know very little about) varies wildly, sometimes by an order of magnitude or more. The issue of some shampoos or other products supposedly filling in the voids between the nano peaks seems to not be entirely supported by the observed results. Also, some of the nano shampoos or revitalizing products appear to be something quite different from very low residue pure cleaners as they appear to be leaving something behind. Under best case scenarios there clearly is some merit to the claims of potential durability well beyond that of regular sealants but what it takes to consistently get there remains more than a little foggy. More reliable predictability with regards to durability and more clarity in the explanations of the science behind these products would be be very welcome.

sort of why I have not jumped on the "bandwagon" so to speak, all these products are outstanding IMO, I just don't want to load down the shopping cart with a boat load of "support" products........ Usually Ken is right on the money and its good to know he is getting good results with what he is doing. I have been using Permanon on the wifes DD beater VW, and its 5 months since my last application and it still beads, sheets and still performing, while its not as slick as it once was its still there. I have been using OPT car shampoo, adams and NXT wash.

    sorry to go off topic........

Anyway welcome, Im intrested in seeing what phil brings in, I remember asking him about nanolex last year.

+1, I totally agree with you. "Nano" is a marketing tool and you can classify them as sealants on steroids. Once you stop taking steroids you deflate. Same analogy can be applied here, in order to maintain this durable "nano" protection you need to use a series of "nano" products. If you don't, durability may suffer.
My friend got a coat - from Eastern Europe - as a Xmas gift and it said "Nano-technology" fibers/materials. Seriously?! :) This "nano" word is being used everywhere :)

guys, first of all I'd like to say I'm flattered by all the interest!

This is actually not the case with the products we offer - they perform without the need to recharge them, but of course this can be done by using dedicated shampoos like the Nanolex Reactivating Shampoo or the Nanolex Premium Spray Sealant!

The durability that we state is not including these types of refreshments ;)

Here's one of our newest product videos that shows the performance of our Convertible Top Sealants that I wanted to share with you

I'm glad to answer any questions regarding the chemical side of things, I know there is a lot of "Nano" around these days ;)

    Cheers, Florian
