Interest List: Adam's Americana demo

I'm exploring the idea of offering an exclusive "pass the pot" deal to the DB faithful.

This is mainly inspired by the "Favorite Wax" thread where so many expressed interest in trying the product but hadn't gotten around to it.

HOW WILL IT WORK:
If we have enough interest I will start by shipping a brand new pot of Americana to the first person. They will get a little time to test it out, evaluate it, play with it, and then they will package it up and forward it on to the next person on the list.

All anyone will be out in this process will be the shipping... not too shabby for a shot to play with a $70 wax with no commitment right? All I'll be asking in return is that everyone play nice, don't use more than it takes to do a complete evaluation, clean the applicator, package it nicely and send it ready to use for the next person.

We also ask that if this happens you take some time to post a brief writeup of your findings and share with the rest of the forum.

This isn't 100% for sure yet, but this will be the starting interest list. Please post if you are willing to participate - again, your only cost out of pocket would potentially be the postage from point A to point B. In the name of keeping all things fair lets limit participants to the lower 48 states to start.

Good idea? Bad idea? Interested? Lets here it... enough interest in this and I'll make it happen.

 

I like the idea, and proposed something similar a month ago about passing around a box with 2oz samples in it. Members seemed to think a "bad seed" would get the box and it would never budge from there. They'd just keep it and 'profit' from the free product.

Seeing as its only going to be established DB members (I think we set a minimum membership time or post count to participate) we can keep tabs on it... and in the event someone fails to pass it on perhaps we lay a penalty on the 'bad seed' in the group... ban from the site as it would essentially constitute theft.

Still looking for more input and participants to make this happen.

 

I proposed a 1+ year membership and 250 posts or something like that (I don't recall) and was still shot down.

I wish you good luck on this. I won't be participating but I'll be watching to see if it goes successfully.

 

I like the idea a lot. This wouldn't work with a lot of products, but with a wax it most certainly will.

But I'm with Mindflux: we need a certain amount of posts, tenure on the board and be posting currently. Otherwise, who knows where it might end up...

Excellent idea and a great way for people to try a new product. It could possibly sell a lot of wax for you also if people fall in love with it. I tend to like to try a product before I break down and buy it if it is a pricey wax.

 

luckly every wax i bought i did alot of reading about it and went with reviews from members and so far ive loved all the waxes ive bought... :thumb:

 

Obviously I won't qualify for this but it's a great idea. There are a couple people here that I would hope would vouch for me being honest!

One thing you may want to require is that each user take a picture when they receive the sample and post it immediately, that way you can track who is abusing the program. Just a thought.

One thing would be to have it where it goes from one coast to another to help cut down on shipping time. Have it where you get the first round of people move it from one side to the other, then ocne that is done get another list of people going and go from that coast to the next to help cut down shipping times. As shipping east to west coast can take a week sometimes.

 

I'd be down to try it out.

Yea, I was thinking once we have a final list I can route it based loosely on shortest trips... that way no one has to pay too much for long distance shipping versus a guy shipping it a few cities away.
