I called a few places today, State Farm had the best for a home based business. 3000.00 equipment replacement, 300k per occurance, 600k aggregate per year with a 500.00 deductible. 21.00 a month, since I have a umbrella policy with them as well. sound right?
well, thats factored with my house, and other assets so by itself it would be pricey. honestly, look into a umbrella policy as well, that would probably knock it down some, plus if some was to "slip and fall" you are covered beyond the 5000.00 medical payments. Wet garage, people not paying attention...... accidents will happen.
Kilo, are you a full-fledged business or do you just do this on the "side"? I want to detail cars for money, but I have a solid job that I have to devote a lot of time to. However, I don't feel right detailing like 1 car per week without my business being "legit". Any advice here?
It never hurts to be safe THAN sorry. Especially if a majority of the cars your working on are 'newly acquired friends' AKA strangers, you never know.
never assume anything either, the last thing you want to do is loose a friend over burned paint...........
So I just checked into it with State Farm who carries my auto and renters insurance and definitely just added it to my policy. It's an additional $30 bucks a month for personal liability and garage keeper's insurance which I think is well worth it and will pay for itself even if I do one detail a month. I don't own a business but I detail frequently enough where this was needed. Plus in the DC area people are wound up tighter than a you know what, so having it be a very litigious area I think I am covering myself in the event someone points a finger. I recommend....
