Got a question about Infiniti paint. How hard is it really? I'm doing a detail on my own G35. Luckily I don't have the sticky clearcoat issue. I bought it new in August of last year and I cleaned it up nicely with my PC then. But i've since moved up to the rotary and I want to do it right after a long winter.

I take care of it as most people on here do so there are very very few swirls and just a handful of small rds. However, I do have some marring on the body panels from winter washing I assume. Most of them run front to back which is how I use ONR so bingo. I did a pass with Menz 85RD doing 700-1200-700 rpm which really made the paint pop but left some water spots and the marring. I stepped up to 106FA which took off all of the water spots but left this slight marring.

I really thought the 106 would do the trick since the marring is really really faint. moving up to 203 seems like overkill for these scratches, but I'll give it a shot on a test panel. Is this normal for Infiniti? Do they typically have very hard clears? thanks!

I have done quite a few and own an FX35 myself. I find the paint quite soft which is probably why its marked after the winter..it doesn't take much to do so. You neglected to say what pad you used with the 106. If you use a black or blue LCC pad, you'll be golden. You could do a search under show & shine for richy and you'll see a bunch I've done (for some reason the firewall at work won't let me access that feature of the site). The good news is they come out great!!

I used an uber blue finishing pad with the 106. I could go to a medium polish green pad on a test panel. Actually after I wrote this earlier, I saw a sticker under the hood while replacing my washer fluid that actually says "Hard Clear Coat." Not exactly sure what that means, but they did think it was important enough to note under the hood.

I hit it with Menz 203 last night on a test area and it seems to do the trick. Followed with a pass of 85RD and the paint was incredibly clear. I'm going detail te full car this weekend. I"ll post a report.
