Went to an autocross today where people, myself included, had a LOT of problems hitting cones. Very (overly) complicated course layout. Anyway, when I got it home, I found some deeper than usual scratches down the side of the car, one of which I could, just barely, feel with my fingernail. All this after having just finished off what I think was my best detail ever (see my review of RBOE for pictures). I was heartbroken :yikes: .

So, in the dark of night, I got out the PC, a Lake Country orange pad, and my bottle of Menzerna Intensive Polish. All gone! Kind of like with the Rubbish Boy's wax, I'd sure like to try some different products, but really, I don't see the need for it. Menzerna's just wonderful stuff.

Of course, this means I'm going to have to go over at least part of the car again, but...that's kind of the fun of detailing :peace:

 yes, Menzerna is quite the product :worship2:

So about this road course, how bad was it? What speeds were you traveling at? Just curious that's all.

Well, not a "road course" technically, but an autocross course. Single car, time-trial format kinds of stuff, in case you're not familiar with the term. This was fast for an autocross course - many sections I was on the rev limiter in 2nd gear in my S2000 (a shade less than 60mph), and in some parts, deep into third gear, I'd say 75mph. The SCCA rules state that solo 2 courses should be no faster than "highway speeds."

Our event sites are mainly airport runways, so the courses tend to be of the "down and back" variety. This one was not, as we used a narrower taxiway in one direction, and then crossed over to the main runway for the last half. The runway is probably three times as wide as the taxiway, so we had the faster elements there.

I did wheel to wheel racing for many years actually, but gave it up. That can get pretty hard on a car's bodywork, and I got sick of having to drive enormous diesel SUVs as my daily driver (needed it for towing on the weekends).

Hey Nica, I'm about to send you a PM, so check for that in a minute.

krshultz, sorry for the silly questions about the racing but to be honest I don't know much when it comes to racing, but I do enjoy seeing it and participating when DB Boss lets me borrow his Porche :cheerl:

Sounds like quite the race though :thumb:

I've received your PM and have replied.
