Well everyone I thought I should post this because it really upsets me to see such ignorance in the world. I understand the internet is just the internet and I usually dont let things bother me for that reason. But as a few might know I am a member of the EvoM forum, and i post occasionally in the detailing section there. Eventually i landed here and I have loved it ever since. Recently I found a post about OTC products and I simply posted my opinion and thats it. Didnt offend anyone at all or anything. Well heres a link to (link removed by Nica) in case you want to read it, if not here is basically what happened, the problem starts on page 3.

Also I am bringing this up because in the post the OP I believe directly offends every member of DB and I feel offended as well.

I dont respond to this seeing that he is a bit immature and then he goes on to post this

As the title of this thread says I am simply disgusted by this response and as of today other than maybe posting my work in the section. I am no longer posting anything else in that part of the forum. Like i said I feel this is personally because I may be a "noob" to this forum, but i feel like I've learned so much in the short time I've been here and I really feel that the people here are legit and are most importantly respectful. Thank you for reading guys. lets try to keep the responses mature and PG. Dont want Carlos to have a heart attack.

Complete idiot. Tell that jackass to come on here then if he's so enlightened and explain it all to us. He knocks on Duragloss and then knocks on expensive products? What is he using then? I'm almost positive that the goal of 90% of the community is to cut down costs and find something that works well in the process, which is why the Duragloss range is great. WE RUN BUSINESSES, why would you assume we purchase the most expensive stuff? That would clearly cut into our profits. You're right, I did listen to the older crowd and tried out some of their products. Now that I have EXPERIENCE with them, I know they are a great line and they are cheap. I've had Duragloss 105 beading BY ITSELF WITHOUT A CLAY OR POLISH on a 2000 Mustang for 3 months now, and it looks great on silver. I'm in the right mind to go over there and post. Please, tell him to come here. PLEASE.

Well, I can say that I use to spend time on the "A" forum but, too much crap. AG being a "Sales Tool"....well, yeah...ONLINE STORE!?!?!?!?! Obvious he has cruised the in-your-face stores. He doesn't mention the preferred vendors of the pros - at least this pro - Phil @ DD, etc.

As for his b!itching about everything else, I would wait until he can perfect his use of the English language and learns to spell before I would undertake a debate. Hard to argue with someone when you can't understand what they are saying?!?!?!?:shead:

Don't even bother to give him the time of day. If he thinks that OTC products are the best products to use let him think that, he can ruin his own car and waste his money all he wants!

And spewing off garbage about a forum community you know nothing about only makes him look like the idiot :crasy: Leave him be like you already did, we'll go on knowing that we have a lot of amazing quality detailers here regardless of what some random person on another forum thinks.

I ran into the same problem on the GTO forum I frequent. I had to fight like mad to change people's minds. I posted detail pictures until people were sick of seeing my car. Even if no one wanted to hear it, I gave my opinion and then advised them of alternative products to use. Most people who are not like us will never understand buying a tire gel online. It makes no sense to them.

Big deal! It's just someones opinion, let it go. Keep in mind that there are many that only use OTC products and are extremely satisfied. They just don't see things through our eyes. My best friend loves TW Ice and I can't seem to sway him to let me give him superior products to use. We both look at his car and we each see something different. He loves the look and all I see is swirl city. We both bought new cars last year and his looks O.K. from a distance while mine looks better than when it was picked up from the dealer. To each his own.

Well you know everyone is entitled to their opinion, heck there are some members out there that say Detailing Bliss is 'miss informed' at the end of the day everyone is entitled to their opinion. Remember the world is full of haters, bashers. I mean it's easier to criticize then to try to understand or simply try things for your self.

You know what's interesting, Detailing Bliss has a wide range of members from some members that have used the most expensive detailing products to the most inexpensive products, we all contribute to the community, we all share/express our opinions but I don't think no one here believes what I've high lighted in yellow, I don't think we are that ignorant around here I mean most of us if not all believe in don't nock it till you try it right? Well at least I do

Well to each their own, I still get a giggle giggle over 'Turtle wax' hahahahaha my dad and I used to use that every weekend when I was a kid, so I get a giggle out of it from the memory not because of the product...any who we are all free individuals we are all accountable for our actions. Thanks for sharing this, it made for a good flash back and a good laugh early in the morning :thumb:

Thanks guys for your responses, I posted this just because I felt this community was being attacked and thought everyone should know. Obviously its just someones opinion that they are entitled to, but man what an idiot lol. again thanks for the feedback guys :thumb:

frankly, i wouldnt worry about what those other forums are saying, but i definitely see why one would be upset over this. this guys probably just jealous, someone who details on the "low-end" (shoot, my customers would freak the hell out if i decided to start using Turtle wax and OTC trash), and maybe even someone that was previously banned from here, or previously a member here and left because of what he might have felt was a distasteful event etc. its like the toddler who keeps trying to get your attention and annoy you; you just completely ignore them and they eventually go away. i mean how can one honestly say that its a bunch of kids over here who just bought rotaries, when you have people like Pual Daulton, FMINUS, Ken from Autowerkes, Phil from DD, the Scandic Shine guys, etc, posting one the regular. and then theres the bunch of us who detail on the side as a source of income regularly at a high end or professional level. there's a reason i post on DB, and not anywheres else. and trust me, i joined a couple of those other forums, and left before ever even posting. usually, when someone is intimidated by or feels threatened by the hightened status of another, they attempt to attack the others personality, character, reputation, etc. i came in to work the other day to find out that a few of my coworkers had been talking crap about me behind my back. saying i didnt know how to "buff properly", and how i thought i was a pro and better than everyone. coincidentally, i was just offered a job by a porsche dealership after correction less than half a car as a tryout, then finishing it for them anyways. they talk trash because they're jealous. and you know what im going to do, ignore them, move on to a better job, and forget about it. im just using this all as an example.

i dont really think we should should really get into a big argument with these guys over our sites rep etc, as it may get out of hand and end up making us look bad. i would post in our defense, but lets no get too heavily into it. the better man knows when to walk away rather than stay and fight over nothing.

Talk about hating on DB. Oh well, maybe we'll be lucky enough not to see his highness around here.

Speaking of TWPUG. I just used some today. I love their tire shine. My favorite. Cant find it anymore. Thats
why i've got a case of it.

    DG makes a great product.

I've got a rotary, and I use it.

Man, that guy is really upset at DB...oh well, the important thing is that everyone here is lime a detailing family, and I feel like everyone helps everyone instead of each guy trying to act like he's the end all be all detailer. That's why I think this site is the best.

About the expensive products...just because a product is expensive doesn't make it good, it's no different than any other product for sale in the world. For instance, you can pay 350 bucks for a Louis Vuitton wallet, but it's made of PVC! Example of expensive doesn't mean quality. However most quality products cost a little more because generally the price is controlled by supply, cost of manufacturing and demand for the product. So, if Swissvax uses more high quality Ingredients and has a high demand because if it's reputation for quality results, then you can expect for the cost to be higher than a product that uses cheap ingredients (don't misread cheap here as poor quality necessarily, but less costly). Now is SV wax a little high? Probably is, but why should they power costs if demand is still high? That's just business sense, remember Swissvax isn't running a charity ya'll

Wow, interesting read. I think out of all the forums, I found DB to be the most friendly with a wide range of experience.

Don't know why DB is generalized that way but that's just the opinion of a small group.

I think recently there were some people who came here after being fed-up with what was happening on other forums so I think those "wins" speak for themselves.

    Thanz for sharing anbuzero.

Yeh hes definitely on autopia and just so everyone knows i dont condone going on either forum and bashing or flamming him. This post is to inform everyone and allow everyone to defend themselves as part of a great community. And yes i completely agree price doesn't always mean quality but hell if you detail cars for people and charge money I hope to God you're using some good quality products, and not items you find at autozone in the bargain bin. and as said here before of course we want to cut down on price when it comes to products, but we are most definitely not going to sacrifice quality.

I actually answered a question similar to this on another forum, and I think myrespsnce is approriate:

To be honest thats a vague question to answer.

In general, quality brand car shampoos are more gentle and offer more lubricity compared to some store brand, or OTC stuff... but even something like Meguiars gold class shampoo isnt bad and thats an OTC product. There is nothing wrong with mixing and matching products, some OTC and some quality brand, especially if your main focus is caring for your own car.

When you detail other peoples cars however your product arsenal needs to be fairly extensive because every car needs different care and every paint finish is different for example what products worked on that Black porsche may not work for that silver BMW.

So many people look at 2 vastly different ends of the spectrum when it comes to detail products, either the store brand OTC stuff which is often thought of as low quality and then the high end boutique goods (Zymol, Swissvax) which is thought of as super high quality and super high priced.

There is however a middle ground, that is well priced items produced by solid car care companies. You mentioned before Chemical Guys, CG makes a ton of different products, some really great and others not so great (at all). The things CG makes good, shampoos, sealants, acrylic glazes are really outstanding and to be honest they are super reasonably priced, especially if you buy in large sizes as I do. Some may not consider the CG name high class, and judging by their product labels and even product names neither would I... but at the end of the day if it works for me I will use it. Brand name recognition has no place in my garage.

You really need to try different things to see what works for you, not that its any consolation and probably not the definitive answer you were looking for... it was my best effort:wink:

I basically explained how price perception influences people too much and to be honest that guy who responded to you had no idea what he wasl talking about!

I think these guys are trolls. Typical internet trolls who are trying to start shit. In my opinion I'd say we just leave it alone. If they want to bash us, have at it, in the end they're the ones using turtle wax.
