I just ran out of my 3m roll of masking paper which is what i use to cover all the tirm and plastic when i polish.

Was wondering what everyoine else uses. I would like to use plastic but not sure where to get it for a good price.

I use a hand paper/tape masking tool that will hold a roll of paper and a roll of tape and feeds them out together across a metal blade that cuts the paper and tape off at whatever length you want. You can buy the tool and all widths of paper, tape, etc., at Home Depot pretty inexpensively.
Meguiars makes a detailing tape which is pretty good and relatively cheap compared to 3m/scotch blue painters tape. You can also find good quality 3m/scotch tape for painting on line and sometimes, its cheaper that way too.
I only use paper/tape combo when its a vehicle with lots of cladding next to paintwork - the MINI's, Honda Element's, etc., and I dont want to risk running my rotary across the black plastic.
I see all kinds of plastic being used at Body shops, etc., but it looks like too much trouble to me, and its thin, and gets static electricity easily. Brown paper from H/D doesnt have any issues, and it protects just fine for my needs.
