So, I polished my car... got it swirl free... drove 300 miles, washed it off at a car wash, and then QDed it with Mother's Showtime and 4 Cobra Jr. 600 towels. Its swirled again already. I was going to a car show... So, I think I need to replace my MFs. I currently have 12 Pakshak towels, but I really don't feel like dropping $60 for 12 more. I was thinking about these towels: For Polish, Glaze, and Wax removal: microfiber, microfiber towels, car care products, auto detailing, house cleaning, micro-restore, micro restore, df towels, microfiber QDing and maybe LSP (although I don't want them to have the absorbancy issues I ran into after buffing LSP): MONSTER MICROFIBER JUMBO ABSORBER Sound good? Any other reccomendations for good buffing/QDing towels?
I have both, not overly impressed with the blue towels though. The yellow seemed softer than the blue ones did. IMO you need to probably have some dedicated LSP towels and some dedicated QD towels. I bought a couple of these for LSP removal. Not cheap but super soft. http://detailersdomain.com/carcareproducts/polishwaxmf/UberNoNameSuperPlushMicrofiber.html
These two are my favorites. Will not even marr soft paint. http://detailersdomain.com/carcareproducts/ubermicro/UberUltraMicrofiber.html Autowerkes Exclusive :: Eurow Shag Towels :: 2008 :: Shop
i currently like these for QD 16"x16" Plush Terry 360gsm Microfiber Towel - White (pack of 10) and these for buffing wax Edgeless Microfiber Polishing Towel - 16"x16" (pack of 10)
The uber blue towel is extremely soft, i use them on my STI, and they work perfect, and as everyone knows STIs have nasty soft paint. I found as long as the towel is damp it minimizes the marring, also you may want to look at the QD your using too, it may not be providing as much lubricity as you think @ OP, both those towels you noted from CG are excellent, I use those as well..... again, as long as they are damp with product they work perfect.
I love both towels that you use also. Yellow ones are used for QD or polish removal and the blue ones I use for just wax/sealant removal. What type of car do you have? Is it an Acura with the super soft paint?
I own a 2003 Mustang, which normally has hard clear. However the Hood, one fender, and rear bumper have been repainted and the clear the used seems to be VERY soft. I ended up going with the CG Gold towels and Blue Monsters. I also ordered me a Waterless Wash spray from them to assist with cleaning when I travel to these out of state shows. I appreciate everyone's input on the question. I really like the PakShak towels, but I just don't have $60 to plop down on only one type of MF atm. Total for the order was $52.
+1 on the MF from microfibertech.com I recently got some of the extra plush 530 and really really like them. Extra Plush Terry 530
