I just bought a 1989 Volve turbo 740 coupe for my son..its in very nice shape...body and paint are exellent...only problem is that the head liner is gone..I heard its a common problem back then.... It has a new tune up...new turbo..clutch...brakes...exhaust...and other stuff...car runs like a champ;..... it has 180,000 miles on it and from what I was told..they can go over 300,000 no problem... I got it for a winter car for him..cost was 640.00..... will have to teach the kid the detailing tricks now.....he does his Motorcycle now ..but never a car fully....this could be interesting....one good thing is he has a HUGE variety of stuff to use...he works in a body shop now so he may like doing it...lol... AL
don't spoil him my brother and I had to get are own car getting it on are own is very satisfing in the end :righton:
That's fantastic!!! I am all about rewarding children when it is deserved as I am sure your son is. Doesn't sound like you are spoiling him... If it were a brand new Volvo, well that would be a diff story!! Congrats Al!!
Al you got a decent car for that price ,I have seen them with 450.000 KM and still going strong,I'm sure your son deserves and appreciates owning a car I know my son did,I got him a a 2002 Hyundai accent and he takes it to college every day .but too lazy to detail it
here are a few pics of the car...its a nice ride...I may take it....lol this car was well worth the money....also have all the maintenance slips...he put alot in it the last few years I can not wait to get a buffer and some polish and DG on it...lol.... Al
Al, I cannot wait to see this one! Turbo Intercooler takes me way back, my dad had a Wentworth edition station wagon. Loved it!
Did I read that right $640.00...wow...you should go to jail Al...you stole that vehicle just teasing buddy. That is one great vehicle and it sounds like it was well maintained. It's funny becuase most Volvo owners really take care of there vehicles and I'm not just saying that because I own one but it's really true. Oh yes, you are correct about the head liner. That seems to be the week spot for the Volvo, well at lest the older one's. I need to replace mine as well. Thank you for sharing the pictures, look forward to seeing the vehicle detaild...that would be fun, father and son detailing..can't get any better then that.
Wow Big Al that's a STEAL! It looks good from the pics . Missing headliner ey? Wonder how it was missing. Can't wait to see some details on that vehicle .
Klumzy..the headliners in older Volvos had a weak adhesive..its water based...and after time they sag ...I have ordered some headliner material and will replace it when weather warms up....or I may have a guy I know that does it for a living and pay him 50.00 to do it... I am now looking at a VW Passat to buy...same condition...very clean and runs great/....its a V6 all leather and no rust...just turned 100,000 miles for a 1993 ..no rust or dings...very clean..runs perfect...under 800.00....this may be my drive to work car..save moneyon gas with my truck...lol..... AL
Man Al your getting wicked deals on those vehicles...you should hook me up with one buddy I need to start looking at another winter beater. The Jeep, even though the inline six engine is running great the boddy is rusting out. The passenger door by next summer I'll be able to put my hand right through it hahahahaha but I still drive it to work.
The car looks great Al It can run over 400 000 km No problemo. Would be wicked if you bought a old passat, any pictures? like the old ones
That sucks for the headliners, well it's good they don't do it that way these days . Man AL you are finding some nice cars! you're very lucky finding some great steals. If it was me I would jump on that Passat..
