So heres my issue... I want to try a LOAD of products $300 worth... and each time I save money/ make money from online, it goes to paypal. Every time I reach over $60-100 I somehow find a way to spend it! Ex. Wanted to get M105 and M205, yet a member gave me an awesome deal on PO85RD and SIP, so I HAD to get them, but I still want M105 and M205. Thiss happens on everything ex. Kens 20% off sale a while back. I brought brushes. And the biggest issue is, that if I were to save up I could have processed what I wanted and had money to spare, and I have spend over $80 in shipping costs alone! I had a thread of products to buy a while back, and got lost somewhere. What is wrong with me... So if anyone wants to help me tune-up my detailing product to-buy list (please just gimme tips) -Megs APC -Megs Hyper Dressing -Megs Last Touch -Brinkman Xenon -Grit Guards -Insulator Wax -12 wax applicators -6 foam 5.5 pads -Menz Power Lock -M105 -M205 -P21S Metal Soap -Klasse AIO -Spray bottles from Meguiars -Bug Sponge -Microfiber Applicators 6x -Brown Royal FML! I think I'm picking the most inexpensive products of the bunch+diluting them goes a long way. I think by having some spray waxes/sealants already, IW845 will be good all rounder + MPL which is incredible from what I seen. As for waxes I got HD Poxy, S100, Lusso Oro, samples of: VW Chaos and Mayhem, thinking of getting AG HD when the time comes. All I'm asking is for some help, and if you have these products and want to sell them (preferably new) shoot a PM I think the key is to knock products one by one (depending on retailer) going to get BR soon. PS: Im just a high school student... 17 now. Looking to get some customers? but maybe not.
I would recomend against putting in those huge orders... buy deals only... that is what I did. I have around $3500 worth of product and tools, and I only paid $2500 for it... Ex. bought my Makita 3M bp and Uber pads for $180... that would have been over $300 from Phil.
Only thing I see on that list thats a must have would be the Insulator Wax, 6 Pads(3 Orange/3 black) & 1 PWF Pad/105/205 and Brown Royal. All that other stuff you can do without for now :drinking2: Maybe Spyral will see this thread and have pity on you and hook you up with some stuff :chips:
Also, don't get pushed into stuff because other people say it is the best. There are lots of products that people say are great that I HATE... samples FTW!
You can buy samples of Megs stuff at autodetailingsolutions. I bought 8oz sampler of m105/205 & 32oz hyperdressing. The 32oz HD will last you for awhile, im just about finishing my first one from a year ago and I use it for every wash.
LOL Spyral hooked me up already! Got Ez Creme, 0.5gallon CG Extreme Shine, TC Paste Wax, CG leather scent, and some Ricardo! (This purchase I dont regret one bit, as it was a STEAL!)
I tried playing around with buying 32oz, but I keep changing my mind! I mean its $13+shipping, might as well add $15-20 for a whole gallon. In the end most of the products (gallon sizes) I split with my uncle, which I help out as hes 2 houses down from me
The bests deals on saving yourself money is by ordering fromAutogeek and using their price match to match an items, deals, kits, or promotions. Also, they have free shipping quite often so that is the best time to order to save even more.
Another area to save money don't buy the 'fancy' Meguiar's spray bottles. I purchased a bunch from US Plastics out of Ohio for not that much cash. Also Sam's Club sells spray bottles for not all that much cash as I remember (got a bag last summer for I think less the $10 and i think it was either a 5 or 6 bottle bag) As for ketchup style bottles, I went to Walmart and for $0.97 each I walked off with a box of 8. Just ideas.
I just turned 18, I started where you are. Now I've worked my way up the scale and have a website and cars already booked two weekends ahead. I say start with AutoGeek, put in a few small orders from there (DONT get their Microfibers) and get the free samples (i.e. 845, 425QD, 303wipes etc). Just wait on deals. Start off offering good packages for dirt cheap prices. I started off with set prices....and wooo weee I regret that. Just work your way up man. Good luck!
I refuse to spend a dime with Autogeek. I would rather spend an extra $5 or $10 and help support a smaller company :hmph: Good thing you learned that set prices will get you in trouble early. Took me more years then you are old to figure that out  Hey, did you get flooded out last weekend :shead:
Post up a thread asking for samples here, members will sell them to you for cheap. With almost all detailing products, besides clay and wheel cleaner, they last FOREVER, especially since you said you didn't have any customers yet. Remember that some things are concentrates, and will be diluted. Like with that Hyperdressing, a gallon? That will mix up to 4-5 gallons and I only use about 2-3 oz per detail, 5 gallons is 640 oz's. Remember that if you run out or get low, you can always order more. By the time you use all of the 32 oz. of hyperdressing, some revolutionary new dressing will probably be out. I say start small, samples and the smaller sizes to start. You'll think you need the bigger one at the time you're ordering it, BUT you'll be happy you DIDN'T get it 3 months later. Good luck :thumb:
AG isnt so bad, but they are kind of monopolizing in the detailing industry. For someone starting out trying to get the best bang for their buck, AG is the only way to go. I personally dont shop there anymore either and mostly stick to the smaller companies, and since I live in philly it only takes 1 business day to get to me. :headbang:
the only thing autogeek has for them is mike phillips, everything else can be found through our forum sponsors. Plus i hate that on every forum that im on and autogeek and pac are sponsors all the threads end up being cut and paste from catalog pages
I know everything else can be found through the forum sponsors but thats not the point im trying to make. I am all about helping out the small companies, but for the money conscious people out there AG will almost always have the best deals. The constant free shipping deals will easily save you $15 in shipping not to mention their price match policy and bogo deals. No other businesses even offer that. If you do your homework right and search for the best prices on products you will save a ton. I know of a place that sells M105 for $20 and m205 for $23. Price match that with AG and order when they have free shipping, you will have already saved yourself $20-30 if you shopped else where.
Just updating everyone that I found a hidden source of income (no not stealing) And over the weekend I bought a S%^$ ton of products!
