How to use P21S TAW as a pre-wax cleaner?

I intend on buying some TAW from our local supplier

I read it can be used to remove wax as a pre-wash, but how exactly do i use it?

It comes in a spray bottle, so do i just trigger down the entire body, dwell and rinse off? Or do i need to rub it across the panel with a damp MF?

Will it work in a foam gun? If so, what kind of ratio to water?

 

I have used the TAW as a LSP Stripper before. I found from personal experience that it works best if you just treat it as a car wash shampoo when you want to remove the LSP. I don't think there's a need to actually wash your car with a shampoo after the TAW. Since the TAW is sort of expensive, I try to get more out of it by diluting it 1:1.

What I did was rinse down the car, then sprayed the TAW over the whole car, let it sit for a minute, then agitate it with a soaked wash mitt, then rinse off.

Since I ran out, I've tried Dawn dish detergent, and it seems to remove the LSPs nicely as well. From a foam gun its nuts how much foam there is. I never tried TAW from a foam gun yet.

I change my mind a lot about LSPs and am still learning which combination of products works for me, so I strip off and start over a lot.

I just got a gallon of Adam's APC, which costs a lot less, so I am hoping it works as well in removing the LSPs as the P21s did.

 

Yes, it will work through a foam lance too. I tend to put 2 inches of TAW in a 1 liter bottle and fill it with water, problem is that it foams too much when using an foam lance.

Normally I spray the entire vehicle with TAW(hand kwazar sprayer), let it sit for a while and then pressure wash off.
You can also mix it in your bucket-wash solution(can't remember the correct dilution ratio, try looking at the bottle, but make it strong). I like adding a little shampoo to help with lubricity.

Most people either use it in their foam solutions then hand wash. Or you can pressure rinse the car first, spray down the entire car with TAW, let it dwell, then rinse off and wash.

 

I’ll agree with what’s been stated already. I’ve used P21s TAW in the foam cannon and in the wash bucket and both methods worked equally well. It’s a great product.

ill pre-soak with it in the foam gun, then add a little to my dawn wash bucket

it wont damage door/window rubbers will it?

 

It shouldn't Sam. I have a citrus cleaner here that is waaaay stronger than TAW and haven't had any issues with it staining anything.

 

well this is how i do it. First i spray down the whole car to loosen up the dirt. Then i have the TAW diluted 4:1 and i spray each panel and let it sit for one to two mins. Afterwards i hose it off and work on the next section so i can time it carefully. one thing to keep in mind is that do not let it dry. so hose is a bit to keep it wet.

Ive been using Dawn, its so much more cost effective........... any disadvantages to doing that? I put it in my foam gun, spray and let it dwell, then wash it off.

 

I use Zep Citrus.... a lot cheaper then TAW and multi-use for wheels, tires, wells, jambs, carpets

TAW is a very good product because IMO its a little more clingy than your average APC which runs faster but it is very expensive and for the purpose of stripping old wax their are far more cost effective ways to do this.... all of which have been explained ad nauseum so I wont say them again (cough cough IPA)

From my experience TAW pre-soaks wont do anything to harm paint or trim regardless of how delicate. I cannot same the same for all APC's .... some people are cool with using APC at 3:1 but I personally feel that way to strong for some cars so I usually go 5:1 or 6:1 just to be safe. On your car being finicky black GT-R paint I would not take a chance so use be careful what you use but I think TAW would be fine.

I got some megs APC.... diluted is it ok for paint? Like lower rockers and such? Or should I get some ZEPS too? never hurts to have a wide range, but just curious

 

Optimum is considered paint safe.

 

Yep exactly, it took me a few tries to work out the best concentration of IPA, started with 50% IPA and the paint hazed over and i shit myself

ended up settling on around 15% and that seems to work fine

and for this reason i dont mind spending the extra money on TAW if i know its perfectly safe
