I've had my 2010 Audi S5 in Brilliant Black for a month now. Its outside mostly except for (Toronto) winters.

The Dealer detailed it. Thankfully no swirls.

I plan on using Dawn to wash the car then clay bar it.

After reading many posts I'd like to try Menzerna's products to protect the vehicle.

I also plan on purchasing the PC polisher.

I am having trouble figure out which Menzerna products I should purchase and what kind of pads I should use.

    I am thinking Power Gloss/Power Finish/Super Finish.

Anyone have experience/suggestions as to how I should go about detailing?

    Thanks.

if it's brand new with no swirls, powergloss is WAY out of question! You'll damage the paint even more!!

If there are minimal swirls, I would go with Powerfinish/green pad
then a finishing polish and black pad

Thanks for the info Dust2Glory. I just notice the Power Gloss has a 4.5 cut!

    No real swirls yet.

I'd just like to protect the finish and make it shine.

Are these finishing products it or do I then need to wax?

You need to seal or wax it or both after you polsih.

  5. Ditto ^ I would use 85rd for the finishibg polish :cig:

    Powerlock for a sealant IMO.

Just to clarify, polishes don't protect the paint at all, all they do is cut down and level the paint. Power finish and Final finish should be all you need, then a wax or sealant of your choice. Sealants will leave a glossier, brighter look, and waxes typically leave a deeper, darker finish.

Yes, powerlock for your sealant... then you can really choose any wax you want for your paint.

For even longer durability I would top Powerlock with Collinite 845IW

If you don't have swirls, then 85RD on some of Detailer's Domain's pads would be enough. One of my favorite combos is 85RD on a blue DD pad.

If you have a little bit of swirls, then you can step up to Power Finish. Which is a great product, by the way.

I would use PO106FA Super finish, on a soft polishing pad.

why polish if there are no swirls and was just detailed . Why not just use a cleaner sealant and wax

Wash it throughly and clay as stated. Bring so new and knowing Audi the finish should be presteen at this point.

I like and prefer Menzerna products and you shouldn't require anything more aggressive than PO85RD and use either a gray or blue Lake County or comparable pad.

Shake well and apply a circle around the perimeter of the pad. Set the speed to 3 and place the pad on the surface and sort of spread it around then turn it on. Once a nice even coat on a 2' X 2' area is achieved then bump the speed up to 5 and work the polish in.

Once satisfied, clean the surface and apply your favorite sealant and or wax for ultimate gloss and protection, Powerlock is a good choice. You can apply these by had or use a red pad which is what I prefer.
