I was able to fix up a scratch I got but now I would like to know how to fix these little nicks. They are all over my black Lexus 400h. I have not polished it yet which will take away a lot of the tittle imperfections, but what should I do about these nicks. Thanks!!!

If they are just paint chips the best thing to do IMO is to get some touch-up paint. Apply the touch-up paint to the nicked area and leave a bit of a "blob". Let the paint cure fully, and wet sand the blob till it is smooth. Then just polish the area to get rid of the sanding marks.

If you are a little apprehensive of wet sanding then fill the paint chip as smooth as you can and go over it with a compound and a yellow (med cutting pad).

Dr. Color Chip worked well for me.

It can be very time consuming, you would be better off having it resprayed...maybe thats not an option, so here go's

After a thorough wash/dry wipe down area with alcohol.then you will have to put at least 2 coats of paint on them(glob it on) If time is an issue you can speed up the drying process with a heat gun/hair dryer.

After the paint has cured. Its time for sanding, lots of people will say go with a 3000 grit, I think 2000 does a better /quicker job. I always let my paper soak in a bucket of soapy water overnite, this isn't nescecary though 10 minutes of soaking is sufficent.

Afterwards hit it with a compound then a glaze/wax.

    * IMPO YOU WILL NEED A ROTARY TO PEFORM THIS/ 2000 GRIT CAN BE UNFORGIVING

I agree with the 2000 grit, For smaller area I normally go back over with 2500/3000 just so its less compounding. A rotary will be needed, once tried with a DA and looked good, till the light hit it and you could still see the sanding marks.

Is 2000 really that bad? M205 on a white pad via a pc (KBM) took out 2000 marks with ease for me. Did an IPA wipedown and nothing showed up.

Its been a month or to since than and still nothing has showed up.
