Got a simple question, how does one go about removing the tags that are sewn onto the edges of microfiber towels?

I use a straight blade and pull on the tag as I cut so I don't get into the seems.

I used to rip it out, but that often frayed the edges and caused it to fall apart.

Rip them out, if a few stiches break I pull out my needle and thread and put in a few stitches. I have some microfiber/cotton like thread that I use if I need to fix some up. Normally its is just a few stitches so I dont have to worry about scratching the paint.
