First, got to apologies for not having pics. Previously, I have detailed a few cars that parked in a unshelter industrial area and the conditions were real horrible. Our average tempt here is 33-38 degree with plenty of acid rain. Bascially the whole car from paintwork, glass, plastic is coated with a layer of contaminates. I actually took 5-6 hrs just to clay and while I was claying, there is this grey and light brown colour liquid being scubbed out. Just when i thought i was done with claying and dry the car, appox 30% of the contaminates reappeared at the horizontal panels. I have also tried to wash with dish washing detergent and APC before claying and it doesn't help at all. Is there a better solution to remove these contaminates faster and efficiently? For those who used valugard decon or FK decon system, is it meant for these car condition? Btw, I got to confess that there are these fine tiny white spot appearing while compounding the car, any idea what are those. :help:
yes try the decon kits. they work on the same playing field as clay. someone just did a great write up on the decon kits, ill try to find it. EDIT: found the link, http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/f34/valuguard-3-step-system-10160.html
Valuguard System(B) Alkaline Neutralizer •Using a clean dry sponge or wax applicator pad, apply Alkaline Neutralizer to all paint surfaces including roof, hood, deck lid, and the tops of the fenders and quarters. •Allow to dwell 5-7 minutes, works well with detailer’s clay to remove contaminants •Do not allow solution to dry on vehicle
I would use the valugard system on it. Do you have a picture of the white spots? Sometimes acid rain marks come out after polishing.
Din't manage to take photos. All the badly contaminated cars i compounded had this tiny white spot problem, it looks like metallic flakes but white in colour and it is really small. It looks something like that but only could be seen when you look really close at the paintwork. http://www.fakeplasticrock.com/wp-content/uploads/black-flake-2.jpg I do not have easy access to valugard products so but may need some time to get hold of it. However, we do have FK distributor over here, anybody tried the decon system before?
togwt... if they are chemically similar, why do most seem to prefer the valuguard system? Is there something that makes it superior? I have the FK system and really liked it and will continue to use it, or a similar system, in the future as it made the detailing prep really easy. If the Valuguard system is better, I might consider picking some up. My only concern is that if that are very similar, what would the benefit be?
I am curious that is Valuguard System(A) actually a different animal than the normal alkaline cleaner? If is kind of similiar i am thinking of using AG powermax 3 (ph 13) to subsitute. =P
I've been meaning to order the Valuguard System for quite some time now and I still haven't ordered it :wall: All in due time.
The pH value of Powermax (pH 13) is more alkaline Valuguard 'A' acid neutralizer (ph 12.0) Simply put the potential of hydrogen (pH) scale is a set of numbers between 0 and 14 where 0 is the most acidic and 14 is the most alkaline (caustic) Unfortunately the scale is logarithmic, for every integer that the scale decreases the material is 10 times stronger. Those of us in earthquake country know all too well the consequences of a change of from 6 to 7 on the logarithmic, Richter scale. The difference in the pH scale is just as dramatic and therefore just as misleading. So pH 13 is very, very alkaline
Came across a badly contaminated vehicle today and took some photos to share. Without any de-con system, I tried claying with diluted powermax 3 and AG tar removal but it doesn't makes my job any easier than using a shampoo solution. I wanted to try claying with AG Clean wheels but it just seems too dangerous. I spend about 4-5 hours removing only 70% of the contams. I am a lousy cameraman so please bear with the pics. This is a when i clayed a 1 by 1 foot section. Are you all able to see a 50/50?
Grab a Decontamination Kit, it will speed things up buffing wise and cleaning wise. I can't wait for Optimum's system to come out which is rumored to perform better.
about how many cars does the fk decon. kit do? just one? i know it depends on the size and condition, just an estimate.
I wish I had a decontamination system after today... my car was in a very very sad state... clay wouldn't even budge some of this sh*t....
