In september i bought a 2002 Red Z06. It currently has 37k miles on it. The exhaust tips are aftermarket and the finish is very dull. I am not sure if it is ruined or not but iv seen a bunch of before and after pictures of exhaust tips looking brand new. Iv read ways of cleaning and polishing but im wondering if anyone has pictures or a video from start to finish. A few processes say use the 0000 Steel wool with cleaner and scrub. Then it says with polish use the steel wool again. I guess what im asking is how much of each product i should use. I no when using on a windshield it is VERY important that the glass is completely covered with window cleaner so the wool can glide.
    Products and tools i own:
    Flitz metal polish
    0000 Steel Wool
    P21s TAW
    Megs APC
    misc brushes

    For tip polishing:

    1. use metal polish on its own with a MF or terry towel and see how it works
    2. step 1 is no good, use #0000 steel wool with some polish and lighly polish the surface in straight lines
    3. you can go back over it with metal polish and terry/mf towel if wanted

That should help get it back to good condition. As for amount of polish just enough to have a layer on the metal kind of like polishing or maybe a bit more.

I use P21S polishing soap, and really like it.

Same! Sometimes they are too trashed for a full revival with p21s though and you will need to use some #0000 steel wool.

I guess i should have said what iv tried so far. I soaped the tips with a sponge. Then i tried flitz with a mf it did help but not a huge difference. the top of the tips still wont shine up and are still dull.

i would try P21S polishing soap followed by a good metal polish like optimum metal polish. then seal them with something afterwards to keep them protected and easy to clean.
